  1. Also I find some years the mintage figures don't translate to the frequency they seem to come up. I'm only stacking but I imagine dealers could shed more info on this
  2. It's an interesting year in that it was the only George V year to have the 'I' mintmark and if one wishes to have a sov of that era with 'I' mintmark it has to be a 1918. Interesting in that regard... There are now the modern 'I' marked sovs from (I think) 2013
  3. Or an opportunity for someone to make a production run of trays that fit the RM box and could swap them to hold their full set of 11
  4. Whether or not they give it that much thought but something I considered was that there could be an insert in the box like 2 trays, maybe 2 layers of 5 coins but for the release of the completer it comes with a tray that you swap in.... They could even release it early but with only 1 out of 2 trays so people wouldn't know until mid way.
  5. When I was in the UK recently I asked at the post office if the lady serving had seen any new coins yet and she got 2 50ps for my change from 'in the back'
  6. First thing might be to just look through what you've got very carefully and catalogue it, so a photo of each side. (I find it easier to take clear pics and then can look through the photos over time without having to rush or go to the deposit box all the time) In the context of this thread you can look for any errors or anomalies. For more general learning... Make a list what you've got including date and mintmark. I learned a lot by looking at things in batches. Eg all my George Vs together or all my Ed viis Take a look at the mintages of what you've got and after a while you'll get a feel for what is a lot or not much. Also looking at bulk listings here and seeing what dates come up a lot or don't seem to come up often
  7. Yeh I have been tempted by 'cheaper' pre Victoria sovs but so far haven't pulled the trigger. I think it would be far easier to move a high quality example than a poor one plus the joy of owning a nice one would be better than looking at it thinking oh man look how worn it is every time 🤣🤔 Maybe that's just me but like if it's a car it's got to be one of the fastest things going or a cheap run about. I don't want to mess about with anything in between. @SVcollector had a few on his website.
  8. Nice set. Bit of a can of worms going for the other monarchs in similar conditions
  9. It isn't you but if you read through all the previous listings for The Legendary Aladeen™ you'll see it 👍🏼
  10. Can't confirm or deny but have seen Timothy Noad taking some pictures of this. The Magnificent Mouse From Within The M25
  11. Thanks mate 👍🏼 There was a Gazette notice for it in July I think. We should be due a notice for the 4th bullion one soon I reckon that should be later in 2023 too 🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮
  12. If you're paying by bank transfers or cards then it's all already monitored and traceable, whether or not there is an entity overlooking you can decide for yourself. Most banks and companies have digital records which a computer could easily search and flag any outliers or anomalies for someone to investigate further. Your online accounts and activities can be linked to your devices and so on, if you were a specific target of an investigation then it would all be there. If you're buying in cash peer to peer less easily traced but that also has other risks and in theory could still be matched up to other people's records in some cases
  13. That's his point I think? To me the OP implies he'd rather spend less than £10k with each dealer.
  14. From a verification of the metal point of view, I imagine almost any dealer would verify the gold even if you had a letter from the Queen saying it was genuine. Many flaws with this like if I have a genuine invoice for 10 best value bullion sovs I could still be trying to sell 10 counterfeit sovs that weren't those purchased. Maybe one day if we end up stuck in digital currency land and you need to prove the price you paid for something when you come to sell, or else get taxed on the whole amount automatically it would be useful to have a record but I still don't think a piece of paper from a random will count for much if you're paying via online banking anyway. I'd keep a record of what you bought when and the price paid and who or where from but wouldn't worry beyond that

    Random Rant

Closed my accounts with them last year. Similar issues to you. Barclaycard just as bad.
  16. Alright pipe down. Could have done it gently but you had to double my bid... I'm out. Actually £4
  17. Some more sensible options. Check behind the sofa cushions Sell a kidney.
  18. Just borrow the next month's from the month afters 🧐
  19. The key to a good listing is multiple photos and a piece of paper with your username and date. That could unlock a few extra £ of profit.
