GoldenPhil reacted to Zhorro in Gold Monitoring Thread £ GBP only
If you do not like the word "manipulation" what about the word "controlled"? I am sure we all remember, earlier this year, the dumping of $3 billion of gold on the market which brought the price down. Players can make money whether the price of gold goes up or down.
I would suggest that the price of gold has gone up despite attempts to control of the market. The recent crisis has brought a lot of new money into gold and a number of the old players seem to have been caught out. In March a couple of banks appear to have made massive losses from their gold dealings.
Also, I think the US Department of Justice has a number of ongoing investigations into precious metal price manipulation.

Gold is the biggest threat to fiat currencies and endless unaccountable money printing. My guess is the 1% see gold as the enemy to their rigged system.

Well all bullion sales people are going to have an agenda. I had an ounce of gold for the time that peter schiff golds going to 10000 an oz Id be a rich man. To be honest it was a tounge in cheek response. If it goes to that range - well Mr Schiff and Kitco, Mike maloney can say told you so but least weve had the common nouse to stak something for our prosperity. I know one thing if gold does go to 10000 an oz - I will paint my botty blue and stand in burtons windows happily, and I will even post a picture of me doing it. Relax mate - lifes too short! Keep stacking happy!

I do wonder if this land-grab could happen again (lot of chat about recently from some of the talking heads - Raoul Pal and Mike maloney etc etc). But they point towards more of a grab move on gold over silver. I half buy into it but half feels tinfoil hat territory.
But... interesting that the UK released a -0.003 (neg) bond and it was over subscribed! So that says that people are happy to take a loss to avoid inflation - surely a boon for silver and commodities which have value.

Better off with Asian 22k Gold jewelery from Asian jewelers. No VAT on Gold and usually better value than 18kt Western jewelers.

The QC at The Royal Mint especially regarding bullion is pretty questionable at times. Looks like the person in charge of setting the die lost a bit of his lunch in it. ROYAL MINT - PLEASE DON'T SET THE DIE WITH A SANDWICH IN YOUR MOUTH!

GoldenPhil reacted to MancunianStacker in true price of gold?
Asian public, China, India, Thailand and the like have historically (and still do) save in gold jewelry. Partly due to past paper currency collapses and partly as wedding traditions etc.
In Thailand the husband traditionally buys the bride (or her parents) gold jewelry. 23k investment grade too. If the parents get it, it usually passes back down to the bride anyway, eventually (this can depend on the family however). Luckily my wife’s family are relatively well off and she kept her gold 😀

I said we'd hit $1740. It took a about three weeks to happen but still. This is really bullish for this time of the year. Gold will be $2k plus by end of year.
Especially so when the stockmarkets crash again in the autumn.

GoldenPhil reacted to Abyss in true price of gold?
For 99 years since 1921 US Dollar held the position of the world reserve currency. Despite trillions dollars Fed printing (it does not equate to the trillions lost in asset prices). How long will the US dollar remain the world's reserve currency it could be another 5 to 30 years and if it is the later part of the estimate at that time I would be more worried about my health and mobility rather than currency/Gold.
The question ask yourself in May 2019 Gold $1275 run up currently to $1750 in single year 37%. Is this price movement sustainable? It is said the cure for high prices is, high prices. I want to accumulate Gold over a lifetime because proven ultimate store of value but I understand Gold treated more like a commodity than money and will go through cycles like other commodities and will have periods of positive and negative sentiment. You can read comments from old forum members where the individual swept away with emotions during the last cycle in PMs and purchased Silver over £30 and still waiting to break even 9 years later.
As I already have an established position in Gold at much lower prices I am siting on the fence.

Watch this and then answer the question below:
When they really have one shot of revaluing the price of gold )and wait for the big score), what figure in $ would you pick?
a) $44 per oz (as it is now)
b) $1,740 per oz (since that is the paper price today)
c) $23,274 per oz (as per the US debt clock, to cancel out the debt).
d) $50,000 per oz (as they have $25Trillion of debt to pay off first, so why not increase it by another 100% or so).
Would any other country care / be against them doing this?
China has been encouraging its citizens to buy gold for a long time. Maybe they know what’s coming?
