Hello everyone I’m William been meaning to join up for a wee while now and after procrastinating for a while I’m here now and looking forward to reading threads and educating myself with lots of stuff I still don’t know about.

Ive been collecting Silver and gold for the past 3 years now and really enjoying myself.

A little more about my stacking/collecting.

I started collecting half sovereigns then Sovereigns and then silver ingots and 1oz coins.

Before taking the plunge and buying I had been studying eBay auctions, sold items etc, reading up on fakes and I’ve been doing things right only had to return about 6 dodgy coins so far 🤣

Had some good luck in auctions and some good fortune as well on occasion.

Looking forward to adding more items in the coming months and years.

let me give you your first bit of forum advice.

Once you've navigated through the site and you feel ready to take the plunge

buy at least a silver membership or you will miss all of the better deals as non-premium members have to wait 3 days before listings become visible then they are usually gone

I’ve already kind of sussed that having a look around I’ll definitely do that don’t want to miss out on some nice deals.

I used to be an eBay aficionado a long time back too, but stopped once the scammers moved in force to the PM sales on there.  This forum has been very useful to me since joining, for buying, selling, good advise and occasionally banter.  I was a member for a few weeks before taking the plunge and going for a paid membership and I suspect it has paid for itself multiple times over.  I also frequent some of the PM Facebook groups but have become very cautious as there has been a rash of scammers on there the last few months as well with multiple dealer accounts being hacked or cloned.  The feedback and honour system works very well on TSF I have found.  It is very reassuring to be able to see feedback on a members previous sales, and generally the prices beat eBay hands-down.  And be assured if a fake is posted on here, unless its a really good one, there are plenty of members to point it out immediately.
