Hi, from a new member

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, my name's Richard, I'm a new collector from the West Midlands - my habit started late last year: 😉

I first came to coins - and later found this forum - after an article on the back of the FT mentioned old gold coins were an option as investment (and I had a little left in the piggyback with which to diversify). Then having dabbled at an online auction but without buying, I found myself hooked by the shiny pieces of metal (gold, silver - and most recently a '53 PF64 Cameo coronation crown) and their stories / histories...

So, I am a happy amateur collector and have since starting out learned valuable lessons; being burned by some auction charges, getting sucked into a bidding war for a middling half-sov... lovely.

Hopefully it will cheer @LawrenceChard and @CoinsOfTheRealmAuctions to learn I've bought from both, and I will continue to do so but am also looking forward to weighing in on the forum trading here as well.

Lastly, I'm going to wish a fair wind and full sail to all forum members as we hove into this weekend - and our winter of discontent, which, let's not forget, was "made glorious summer" in the end.

See you on the threads.

Sounds like you are acquiring exceptionally good taste.

I know you don't have any LCSs (Local Coin Shops) in or around Birmingham!
