Hello everyone, have a modest stack since starting four years ago and I’m hoping as relative youngster to gain some wisdom from more seasoned stackers on the forum. Currently mulling over selling all my silver and only stacking gold.

Why would you sell all your silver for gold?
If you look at the gold silver ratio it is definitely towards the top end of the range.
You might say that silver will never catch up but my view is on the balance of probabilities the ratio will revert to the mean.
i have bought silver from members who were offloading silver to buy gold b/c they found storing it a problem. There is also the issue that gold does not deteriorate and if it does it is only the odd red spot which you can easily get rid of. There is no dreaded milk spot to contend with.

Personally if i were inclined towards gold, i would keep my silver and from hereon in start collecting small gold coins - hence the vast majority of members recommend sovereigns for UK based stackers.

@sixgun Thanks for your post. Mainly thinking of selling for practical reasons like you mentioned such as storage etc. but also since I’ve started stacking the price of silver has barely changed even with all the recent events which should see people flocking to save havens such as metals. On the other hand gold has gone up considerably and definitely seems to be more of a store of value to me.

You might well find that coins on the forum are better value. Really you need a premium membership to see the coins as soon as they are posted for sale. So really you need to be buying a decent amount to make it worthwhile. In general buying sovereigns in the UK is the safest bet - as long as you don't buy on ebay. There are so many con merchants on there - maybe even people who are innocently selling fake coins. Stick to reputable dealers like Chards / Atkinsons or fellow members of the forum.
