1929 Half Sovereign anyone ?

My first thoughts were "it's another eBay forgery" but the photos are of a full sovereign!

Who's going to take the chance of a bargain by bidding on it when the seller has a feedback score of only one though. Any bidders from TSF?

I hear what your saying.. personally I won't buy any sovereign from any year from Ebay...I know quite a few people who have been ripped off with fakes..plus the Sovreigns on ebay are totally over priced..so for me it's a no brainer...but it is a 1/2 Sov..but still would not buy any Gold or silver on that site..there are plenty of other avenues to buy bullion other than Chinabay......

Even though the Sovereign is now used as a bullion investment coin only, the mint holds to tradition and continues to strike it in 22-carat gold. The Royal Mint also produced the one ounce Gold Britannia in 22k gold from 1987 to 2012. From 2013 onward however this was changed to a full 24-carat.

1929 half sovereign . Half's are not my specialty but search the net and you'll not find one. Does anyone know of a comprehensive list ?

Well as it states 3.99 grams...you would have to be completely clueless to think its a full sov..🤔🙄

But the pictures show the coin on TWO different scales with weights of 8gms and 7.97gms.  The seller has updated the notes to say it is not a half sovereign (which he thought it was based on the size of the coin).

"" I have just checked the weight of my coin and can say honestly it weighs 8 grams I assumed this was a half sovereign because of the size but the weight indicates otherwise.

This could be a rare not many minted coin.""

Just as i thought, he assumed it was a half ....  not many minted ? Only 12 million 😆You'd think people would do a little research before putting this kind of stuff up for sale.
