Thanks all! I'm learning from everyone already!

I'm looking to stack fractional weight , but not sure if coins or small size bars are best Value wise. I have around £600 to play with. 25 Robin hood coins just fall shy of that price with the postage I think... I almost purchased before I started this thread this morning.

Do you all only buy as one big group on a set date or are people interested in getting involved just if the numbers are right?

Is there a set goal kitty wise ECT?

Most bars are not vat free, even from Europe, so will be more expensive. There are bar shaped coins called coin bars that get around this however.

Essentially bars with a denomination.

The main Forum group order's organised by @BackyardBullion aren't happening at the moment due to the uncertainty of Brexit, I think in the new year depending on Brexit status we may see these again, you may find someone on the forum to chip in with on a "Private" group order but make sure it is a well respected member before going through with anything like this.

@BackyardBullion also has an intermediary service in which he will act as a middle man for any forum sale, might be worthwhile if you're worried about buying on the forum.. See link below.

@BackyardBullion I thought it was stickied/pinned in the buy/sell section but couldn't see it earlier I had to search for it... Would be great if it was stickied/pinned so more people would see it, I think its a brilliant idea especially for bigger high value sales 👍

I believe it's only valid after you select your address and have an actual price for the postage in your basket.

Also, when buying from the European Mint check prices  and pay via bank transfer in EURO directly, rather than pounds. Their exchange rates are notoriously inaccurate from EUR to any other currency. To pay in Euro with very low bank fees use TransferWise.

Ok thanks... This app is all safe I assume!?

Welcome to TSF!

Just a tip speaking out of my own experience with the European Mint; they do ship out fairly quickly, their customer service is generally quick and friendly to respond to any questions and complaints, and the quality of the coins that I have received from them is usually good. You only may want to order some additional coin capsules somewhere else, because that's a big hit and miss with them...

And oh yeah, better have yourself a razor sharp pair of scissors, especially when you let your order be shipped with Capital Logistics, because you have to work your way through 15 layers of tape before you can open up the box. 😂

The last package I got was like a workout, I didn’t have the energy to look at what was in there at the end...should of had my Weetabix! A sharp implement is a must.

Hey guys,

anyone know how to go about a personal group order with some friends in Germany? Is this legal?

Thanks for your help!

Why would it not be legal? Anything specific you are worried about?

I assume you plan to order within Europe? Goldsilver.be, European Mint or a German dealer?

I don't know the German law, but gold and silver should be capital gains tax free. No requirement to show purchase invoices to authorities.

Yes, looking to purchase in Germany. Have no idea besides (personal buying and taxes) so far. For example buying funds for others can be very problematic I think. Thought this might also be the case with metals. Do I become a seller, for example, before the law? Etc.

EU Mint has a sick wrapping machine! 😆 That package is t-i-g-h-t! Great if you are in need or undergoing "unwrapping therapy"! 😁

Let s not start with our respective govnt leaders. We all know why we are stacking/collecting. ;)

Sicher einiges antrainiert worden. Es lässt sich aber auch der anerzogenen Kultur entgegenwirken. Ich lerne ständig hinzu.

Have you done a group order before? Any tips?

Danke Digger :D

Could be fun to have one of those machines yourself, with Christmas around the corner. Make your loved ones really work for their presents... 😬😂

Perhaps @BackyardBullion can provide a few tips regarding group orders, as he has done quite a few himself for people here on TSF.

Thanks for the tip @FunkyChicken!

Already had a message from BYB. Since he concentrates on UK, no further info though.

One positive thing over here - compared to UK - is that silver does not have the 20% (??) tax.

As far as I know, there's no VAT on silver coins in Germany indeed. And BYB may have focused on the UK, but I don't see the principle of a group order being much (if any) different in a different country. 😊

You are just placing a big order on behalf of multiple people to save on shipping costs, and if your order is big enough you may even save somewhat on the purchasing price. I don't see anything illegal about that.

The only thing that I don't quite get about this, is that I'm guessing people would also have to pay you in order for you to be able to ship their orders to them, which would then defeat the point of a group order in the first place. But I suppose that's where BYB may have some secrets of the trade down his sleeve.

Yea, different countries do have diff. laws though. But you may be right in that Germany and UK might not differ much. Just trying to make sure.

Germany is quite strict on privacy, as far as I've experienced. Maybe that could lead to an issue or two when you're going to have to deal with people's addresses and banking details.

So perhaps you might want to look into that, but otherwise I can't think of anything that may withhold you from doing this group order as long as everything happens with mutual consent.

Not in the UK though unfortunately, unless it's UK legal tender (e.g. Britannias / Sovereigns) 😪
