Wearable silver bullion!?

I have been experimenting with a drill today and have made a wearable antiqued Aztec round. Wasn't too difficult to drill through although I think I need to get some new metal specialised drill bits!

What do you guys think!?

It is a bit "Mr T" but looks pretty awesome - its a bit like wearing a huge medal! But kidna fun!

A nice (albeit heavy duty required) silver chain would be pretty awesome!

i think you need a loop which would allow the piece to lie flat against the body and keep the piece clear of chain/necklace.

A nice chunky silver chain attached to the rim at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock. that would allow it to hang down flat against the chest.

Ask @GoldBenj if you're looking for the A-Team :D

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

Any idea what I would need to get? When I search jewellery loop I get search results for loupes...

@BackyardBullion looks great but feel you would need a heavier chain, the pendant would cause an awful lot of wear to the chain

Yes indeed, this is the 9ct gold chain for my st. Christopher, but the only chain I have at the moment!

I found a smaller jump ring which looks much better.

Any suggestions based to the grade or thickness of the chain that would be best?

I did wonder if you could drill the little 1oz stars to use as Christmas tree ornament, maybe just buy a couple each year.

That looks great, but is that 3.4 toz? It maybe a bit unbalanced as far as weight goes.

Yeah it is a bit chunky for sure!

So I tried it out on a medium star - the little ones are just too small sadly...

But because of the angle of the hole there is no jump ring required on these!

@BackyardBullion Na mate... your things are quality and good looking already.

You would need an exceptionally good design too pull this off.

In my opinion you'd have to make it less weight and thinner whilst still trying to keep the high relief aspects ( hard to achieve ).  Good luck though as it could open a successful new market for you.

I think this is not going to be a new range of items - simply a novel piece that people might want!

As you say keeping the unique parts of my brand (ripples etc) with tiny pieces is tough

Definitely a market for this. Maybe you can partner up with a jeweler. And also ETSY is the place to sell coin and this kind of jewelry.

Good luck

Thanks - I am not sure about the possibility of the jewellery market...just dosent seem practical.

However as a slightly more practical piece of bullion (you could hang it as an ornament rather than it sitting in a draw for 30 years!) It might be better that way.

If they were lighter and thinner they could be a pendant. There wouldn't be the drag and strain on the chain. This is more of a sheet pressed product but as key fobs which would use a heavy duty ring they would work well as they stand.

Drilling or cutting  thru an objects face to provide a hanger opening is destructive to the object.

Cutting thru side to side allows an object to lie flat.

Adding Loops or bails also alters the originality because of the soldering ore drilling and tapping required to mount the hanging appliances

2 half loops at the shoulders of a heavy display  is preferable to keep the object flat in most cases.

Many Mounts are designed to hold objects for display as pendants which consider the balance of the item and the size of a proper orifice to accept a chain or rope of a suitable size

As a jeweler I designed an octopus which used many arms to hold seashells or pirate coins but left an arm or two to hold the chain on which the object was to be displayed

Drilling and bailing is fine if there is no other creative way to display your treasure.

Happy New Year To All  ....   ARTHUR
