Disagree here FVH, Trade wars means inflation, with all the western countries in large Debt both public and private sanctuary will be sort in Gold and other tangible assets rather than paper. Trump also has around a 25% of his vote and 33% of Hilarys Vote who are Angry at being left behind and he has promised them a job and better pay!!!   This is a very big promise to live up to, I hope he does it just not at the UK's expense.  As far as calling Clinton a Socialist you made me laugh her politics are closer to Mussolini (apart from the racism) than she is to the late Tony Benn.  Clinton is a Neo-Liberal  who wants to cosy up to big business wall street basically the 'fire' economy and that is why she lost enough normal ordinary people, people no longer believe the lies told by the old right and left parties they feel betrayed and its the left that is losing, though there is a warning from history the further the pendulum swings one way it will swing the other way just as hard.
Also has anyone else noticed the mainstream media propaganda is not as effective anymore.

Just like brexit, trumps picture is not so rosy, its simply that nothing has yet been done.  If and when we actually serve Article 50 then the £ will drop again, and will significantly drop further until actual leave. £ $ parity is certainly not absurd at present.
Donald Trump has won yes, but he first has to take office in January, then and only then will we will see whether he has the backing of the Republicans or whether his policies will be guided by those same Republicans.
Gold price - who knows, it could go either way by $100 or more, either way we know the media control what the public really hear, and wall street controls the money.

11/10 against Trump winning the presidency in my book, if he did win then Gold would climb to  over $1400, but here in the UK the £ would strengthen so we would not see as much of the increase though it would still be a big move.
The price of Gold is not high its the price of the £ is very weak! all thanks to the BOE and Mr Carney who has been giving lots of free money to his friends in the City which means the £ is worth less now.

I wouldn't touch 1/10th's or quarter sovs with a barge pole. Modern tat, bought by people with more money than sense. The Royal Mint must love anyone buying gold this way. Rubbing their hands all the way to the bank. ...Although if you can buy for a few percent over spot, then like any gold, snap em up.
However, for the same money as a modern quarter sovereign, you can easily buy a Victorian shield half sovereign. In my opinion a much much better buy, and will keep it's value much better than the modern stuff.

Not sure you were the one who piqued my interest in flatware on Ebay, considering I've been buying flatware since June 2014 and you joined the forum a few months ago. And I think there are only a few people on here who are into flatware solely or have a high percentage of their stack like me . Regarding time and energy, Well I have a budget per month  to spend on flatware, I choose a certain day in the week, along with a certain time, in order to quickly peruse ebay, I have a carefully worded search parameter, which narrows down my choices. I have a maximum fixed price I will pay. It takes me less than 10 minutes to go through the days auctions, and find ones that fit within my criteria (which is usually around 5 or 6), and I have a timer to remind me when the auction is about to finish. Invariably I'll win one of those auctions. I then forget about ebay for a few weeks, and then repeat the cycle. I spend more time reading the paper every day than I do picking up under spot silver. I also have a deal with my local cash for gold guy, who is keeping back any decent silver pieces for me. Should be picking up some silver cups this weekend, (if he remembers to bring them to the market), for spot value. These will be going on ebay if they are in good nick, as they can command up to £1 an oz or more on there.
With regards to spreadbetting. Well there is major difference between vaulted pm's, and spreadbetting. If the price goes down when spreadbetting, you actually lose cash. If the price goes down if you have vaulted pm's. you lose nothing. You only lose money if you decide to sell at a lower price than you bought it at. However my thoughts on spreadbetting is this. It is by far, the worse form of gambling, ever devised by the gambling industry for punters, and spreadbetting companies rake in huge amounts of money. Mainly because markets cannot be predicted as punters like to think they can, and markets always fall more than punters think they will and rise less than the punters think it will, (human nature I suppose) , meaning they always lose more than they thought they would, and win less money than they thought they would. Some people may call people who try to make money through spreadbetting "brave", I have another word for them.......but I won't be saying what it is. But then again, you all know my thoughts on gambling

But as I've said before. Each to their own. Everyone will have different strategies, depending on finances, their age, their exit strategy etc etc. None are right nor wrong. Although some are certainly more riskier than others.

Well I I bought in 2014 and 2015 after a lot of hating silver and saying so on this site, i bought enough to just balance my portfolio. The thing is STG had libertads cheap before they were pumped to high heaven and I picked up for £13.25 per oz and Philis for £11.80 per oz.
I can make money on them. In the whole Silver coins and bars in the hand the margins are just to high to make money on, i don't mean £20 here and there, a move like we have had in the precious metals should mean we are all quids in but some are not. this should be a wake up call for all metal buyers!!!!
I myself have been buying copper from the scrap yard at 1.5% above fix  for the last year

Everyone on here should be ok, people should of been prepared no matter which way the vote went.
Gold goes up because the £ has gone down and risk has gone up.
I am holding my physical until the over the top,  I think I may batten down the hatches for a few weeks and monitor, we may even get a run on the £ yet.
