Bought 4 sovs 1 of them a 2017 
 only the second time I have bought gold from a dealer this year, the dealer is out of stock so I have been put on a wait list!  I thought I would try a different dealer than hgm as I am fed up of crap sovereigns being sent out to me while others are getting better quality sovereigns for the same money I paid time after time!!

I missed the early dip in gold but I have bought a 1 oz gold unicorn from chards today.
I have begun trading out of the Royal Mint Lunar series after the disaster that was the year of the dog design and buying the queens beasts instead. So far I have only had to give up a tiny amount of gain in terms of £ lost to sale and premium spread to do this, but I have been lucky with my timing, until today of course 

I actually want to add to that. Most people don't understand the psychology of buying and selling. There will be situations where you are a price taker and situations where you are a price giver. You want to be the latter when you come to sell. There are many methods you can use, I won't go into it too much because one day Ill put it into a book and sell my knowledge (thats what everyone else seems to do). I will give a scenario though, if you own high end coins if you go to an auction you are a price taker and its luck of the draw. If you have the network and you know your friends and other collectors you can become a price giver. People do business with their friends and as long as the price is fair you can dictate more, by doing this you make money by your knowledge and your skill set. Ill offer another example, if you have just pure bullion you are a price taker, there will be a market equilibrium (thats changes everyday) and you want to make sure you are under the curve when buying so that there is room to sell and make money. The higher your skill level the more potential money you can make.

Might be a good idea to start a new thread on bullion vs graded - the merits and demerits. It'd be a cracking thread I reckon.

Are there any common or garden variety stackers still around? Or have you all progressed to slabbed numismatic collecting snobs?
I only ask because, well because basic silver is very cheap at the moment, but judging by the posts on this thread nobody gets excited unless it comes in a case and has a mintage in single figures..

I've got a Canadian sov that I bought years ago by chance.  It's a bit bashed, at the time I didn't realise they were hard to get.

Get in touch with gold silver.be and tell them what happened and you are worried to the point you may not order from them again and you are a member of the silverforum.com and could they contact Yodel to make a complaint so this will not happen again please.  that is the only way to get the delivery man/woman not to do it again!!  This may also cosentrate goldsilver.be mind they do not want to lose orders!!!

Pretty reasonable condition too,  when I have bought Krugs from HGM they have been a bit worse for wear.   

Well done, I had a very bad experience with bullion by post quite a whiy ago now, I bought via eBay paid for special delivery and they sent it out signed for.   it went to a different address who signed it my daughters name she  had moved away to uni , GPS tracking  Royal mails internal 'police' and eBay saved me and between them I got my money back.  I will never buy from bullion by post ever again.  Bullion by post treated me like a thief and at no point believed a word I said even when the Royal mail proved the parcel had been delivered to the wrong address and been posted sign for not special delivery and it had been fraudulently signed for. Bullion by Post still refused to give me my money back, I had to escalate it with eBay who refunded me within 2 hours!!!

 I never buy from any swanky dealer, most of my art has come from young artists or out of fashion artists who i like.  It's quite funny how a so called experts opinion can carry so much weight, I bought a painting direct from an Artist who i know who is quite well known it is signed it has a receipt and a letter, a so called expert reviewed the painting and proclaimed it a fake which i know it isn't as i had bought it and seen the artist paint some of the painting.   I had to get the Artist to directly tell the 'expert' that it wasn't a fake, so there you have it the experts are not so expert.  
Opinions are everything in art,  'a rich mans opinion is worth a lot of weight, 2 rich mens opinions are worth even more and 3 even more, the quality of the painting is secondary'.       

Not a case of receiving a nice coin, but I had brilliant customer service from HGM today - acknowledged a minor problem with an order and fixed it without any fuss.  Hard to beat, especially if you like the pot-luck of buying coins blind :P

I take it you are not buying then, and have not bought since before brexit? 
I will say again if the dealer paid 98% of the fix then the price falls by 6% he is holding a loss.  I think at 3% to 4.5% above spot thats not bad.
 

Disagree here FVH, Trade wars means inflation, with all the western countries in large Debt both public and private sanctuary will be sort in Gold and other tangible assets rather than paper. Trump also has around a 25% of his vote and 33% of Hilarys Vote who are Angry at being left behind and he has promised them a job and better pay!!!   This is a very big promise to live up to, I hope he does it just not at the UK's expense.  As far as calling Clinton a Socialist you made me laugh her politics are closer to Mussolini (apart from the racism) than she is to the late Tony Benn.  Clinton is a Neo-Liberal  who wants to cosy up to big business wall street basically the 'fire' economy and that is why she lost enough normal ordinary people, people no longer believe the lies told by the old right and left parties they feel betrayed and its the left that is losing, though there is a warning from history the further the pendulum swings one way it will swing the other way just as hard.  
Also has anyone else noticed the mainstream media propaganda is not as effective anymore.  

Copper spots as they are known can come and go on older Gold coins, and yes they do reduce the value of the coin but not as much as a scratch or a polished coin would.
