  1. There are good and bad ones. Depending on your perspective of course.
  2. Nice! Congrats! Mine is still with PCGS. Sent in March, return as FedEx error in April. Sent back in April...still pending. Opted for restoration ‘just to be sure’.......Currently in the encapsulation stage so who knows what it will be. If it’s a 68/69/70 I don’t mind. I would question my sanity in asking for restoration if that happens, but it is what it is. Life’s a dream and sometimes you see ghouls. Just want it back!!!!
  3. ‘...a winner like this.’ The perfect attitude because if every coin graded as PF70 the whole thing would be a waste of time. Looking forward to the video.
  4. The experience is worth so much more.
  5. Thanks @westminstrel - are you getting one? I wonder if it will sell out!! £630.00 I believe. Andrew.
  6. I bought these on the day of release. My intention was to get them framed but after considering whether to return them or not (not keen on them in hand), I decided to just keep them in their packaging and leave them for a few years as an investment to see what happens. I haven’t seen any for sale elsewhere and did think it was a bit of punt that may have failed! The fact they are back in stock suggests other may have the same feeling. I guess the Mint are still accepting returns?
  7. I cannot believe the price the kilo went for. I was close to bidding on it but given where it is and how other weights of the 3G have been doing I decided against it. £7k for the 10oz raw last month and £5,250 for the kilo raw today...£3,900 for the 5oz PF70... I don’t think this is anything to do with shill bidding as this just isn’t possible at Coin Cabinet. I think it’s just purely down to interest dropping. The ‘Una’ affect may have gone now for anything that isn’t actually an Una (silver/gold) or the gold versions of the Graces.... Just my view!! PS who on earth paid £975.00 for the Machin Portrait Decimel Day Piedfort 50p? Haha!!!
  8. I missed everything apart from one. I also ignored my general rule of sticking to my highest bid as the blooming coin went over that point very quickly. Some interesting and low prices on silver today!!
  9. Yes, they sell you a nice proof sovereign for £630.00 and then give a nice bottle of something to drink. When you wake up you have a quarter sovereign in your hand and you are told everything is normal.
  10. Yep! Will be very interesting. I have my bids down on a few non-Una/3G items but expect to be overbid soon given the way the market is at the moment. Fingers crossed!!
  11. Have you performed the 'bite' test yet. The 'C' could stand for Chocolate.....
  12. The picture is a 2014 sovereign. I have a few 2013 sovs. Bought them last week from Hatton Garden Metals for £321 each.................people actually fall for this carp (thanks for the language pointer @LawrenceChard)
  13. HGM have just taken in some 22ct Britannia - cracking price: https://www.hattongardenmetals.com/buy/gold-britannia-1oz-gold-coin-22ct EDIT 24ct now also: https://www.hattongardenmetals.com/buy/1oz-gold-britannia-24ct Good prices.
  14. I've been in a few times recently - normally after visiting the Coin Cabinet (who are just a few doors down). Great service and real attention to detail. Like the others say, just do your research before going in because their premiums are higher in some cases.
  15. Cracking video. Cracking pictures. Cracking bars.
  16. How great that for a coin with so much detail and age you can still end up getting a MS70. Thanks for sharing.....if only the bronze was a '67 too, right?!
  17. Any intel on release date, Graham? I have the 1 and 5oz and would love the 2oz. Sent the 5oz for grading and keeping the 1oz as is because I am not so impressed with it on the small scale. Loved the 5oz. Hope the 2oz is equally tremendous! Hope Grumpy Dave is having a good day.
  18. Thanks for this. I sent it to them. They authenticated it and returned it to me! The Mints attitude towards the 2014-2016 £1 trial coins has relaxed and you can now openly buy and sell them. There was a graded version in the recent coin cabinet auction! This coin is around ten years old and not part of the modern £1 tests or trials - instead they said: ‘probably produced around 10 years ago, possibly with a view to testing the aesthetics and practicality of using shaped inners for bi-metallic plated steel coins.’ No certainty at all, even from the museum! It was in the last Sov Rareties auction but was withdrawn for private reasons (I had nearly 40 coins in that auction that were withdrawn in the end!). It was then put on EBay and really struggled so I just withdrew it. I wasn’t going to just give it away. The coin is currently sitting in a safe place. No idea what to do with it and am just going to wait and see if I can learn more about it first. Cheers!!
  19. Nice addition to the NGC collection. Whilst I am a confirmed PCGS geek, the occasional NGC does appeal.
  20. Thanks @CadmiumGreen. That’s really helpful!
  21. Good afternoon, Can anyone please help with specific information about the Emergency Production ASEs that were graded by NGC last year and put into many different and coloured holders (notably in some cases the same green colour they use for the monster boxes). I have one of the Early Release Green ones - census reports there are 420 of these (if I have read the census report correctly). I can’t really see much more information and would like to learn a bit more about this if anyone can help. Cheers! Andrew.
