  1. Just received the 2oz Silver Proof Queen's Beast Completer coin - looks good. Confirmed mintage of 750 and the limited presentation is of 750.
  2. Interesting issue for those already selling on Ebay. I can see nothing but issues there!!
  3. Better get mining then. At least that could mean that my shares in Greatland Gold and Alba Minerals rise again!! Whoooo!!!!
  4. If EII is not longer our monarch at the point of issue, and there is an intervening period, perhaps with Boris wearing the Crown whilst Charles sorts out which Kilt to put on, then perhaps we could have a coin without a portrait and instead two 'reverses'? Though, Cromwell did put his face on the Commonwealth Coinage, so perhaps Boris will do the same.
  5. I know I go on and on about this particular design, but the Merlen 1821 is for me the most, most, most beautiful reverse. Though, of course, it may be tempting fate because the 1821 was the first year of the GIIII period, following quite a long GIII period!! Could be a beaut for one of the future Great Engravers series, and perhaps a no no for the sovereign as I don't think this would reduce well on a quarter sovereign.....
  6. Really helpful for when the impending financial collapse occurs....who is going to accept that for payment of a pint of milk? Anyone tried to pay for something with a £50 note? Jeeez... Going to need a stronger belt too if that is in my pocket.
  7. You are absolutely correct! I guess I just thought he was still there as they continue to issue his designs....but the recent ones are just rehashes like the Queen’s Beasts etc.! Good on him for taking the job at Commonwealth Mint. Hopefully, we will see some good coins coming from them as a result! The Gothic Crown does look excellent and I like the portrait of QEII on that..... Does mean, of course, that the RM edition in November most probably will be different.
  8. Strike that last comment. Sorry. Just had a quick look and it seems he left the Royal Mint and is just with the Commonwealth Mint now.
  9. I think we are expecting the same from the Royal Mint in November, save for the reference to Alderney! Note the involvement of Jody Clark...the portrait is likely to be the same, or not? What do you guys think? My view is that it is worth getting this one as it will be a nice set to have alongside the Royal Mint one.
  10. I’ll post pics as soon as I can. I think the pics on the site are quite good. The pictures of the silver do seem clearer that the gold!

    Worth grading?

Agreed. Send it off for conservation and grading. Good luck!!
  12. The Stoat of Seville sounds something of a more 16th Century beast. Part of the court of Philip and Mary, perhaps. Could be a good coin! You should email the Royal Mint. Perhaps a global Royal Beasts series.....
  13. Just to say that Mark (who runs Ukgoldcoins) also has the silver proof and Matt proof collections. The commonwealth mint manage Alderney coins and only sell to trade, so you will only get from somewhere like Mark on the primary market. I just got the PF70 Silver Proof set for £460 (plus postage) which isn’t too bad. The process was easy and Mark’s communication was excellent. Should be with me in a few weeks.
  14. I don’t normally ‘reveal’ but on this occasion I will. I’m the crazy old coin fool who spent £55 on the silver half dime! Very happy with it. A nice VF30 for the collection. Will look to submit for conservation and regrading as it’s an old slab and who knows it could get a 31 🤣......
  15. @LeonmarshThe CC will likely send the invoice to you tomorrow. Watch out for emails and keep an eye on the junk folder!! You then bank transfer the amount using the invoice number as the reference. They will then send out by courier and will likely be with you by Weds - very slick service. The only time there has even been a longer time scale was when there was a bank holiday..... Cheers!
  16. That’s a good snag! Andreas blogged a while ago about how the 69s are the hidden treasures. A good move to take them whilst everyone fights over the 70s!!
  17. Both the PR70 and the PF70 5oz both sold for £3,100.00. There were no 69s in the auction this time. Anyone have a view on the price of those (the PR69 PCGS ones)? I advertised on for £2,999.00 and then dropped to £2,500 but no interest. Looks more like the £2k mark. Is that about right?
  18. My understanding is that they are only being offered via account managers.
  19. Oh my. I know. I know!!! However, in my case, there is a super thin line between a hobby and an obsession. You should see me at the moment looking for old NGC slabbed British Coinage with a view to conservation and regrading via PCGS.....crazy as hell, but it is a 'hobby'. haha.
  20. Depends on the going price, of course! The way things have been going recently, I would expect there to be surprises and disappointments across the board!! At the last auction the Piedfort Decimal Machin portrait went for £975. This time it is struggling below £200 and the full set that includes that coin is also struggling.......the passage of time can be a cruel mistress!!!!
  21. Re my last message on this thread. I just checked my order page and it now says ‘750’! So a mintage of 750 is now clarified for the 2oz Silver Proof.
  22. Yes. Silver, not gold. Just curious. Not intending on selling at this stage. According to my order page the mintage is 100 and this is also what the RM have told me, but others here are saying it is 750 with the RM only having 100 to sell. It’s really bizarre. I’ll wait to receive the coin and check the CoA when it comes...... Paid for this a while back and money bounced back late last week as still not dispatched. No idea when it will be sent out. Maybe they cancelled on me!!
