  1. Yes, mine went back. Abysmal really - you would think by now they would have realised that it makes good business sense to get them right first time. The number of returns and additional runs they then have to perform, must cost them a small fortune.
  2. Yes, it eventually turned up on the new items page. Took me 20 mins to find it…..
  3. I can't even find the 1 oz silver proof, which is the one I want - Royal Mint website is shocking at times.
  4. Opened one last night - literally my first ever taste of rum. Very nice, ideal when craving something sweet.

Nothing wrong in doing so when the VAT is carried through to secondary UK market prices, which is the usually the case with silver and platinum bullion coins.
  6. Managed to pick up a couple of these, before they sold out (quickly) earlier this week.
  7. They should certainly be shipping things sooner than they are, but I've been waiting for a Potter series for years. Bring it on!
  8. Foolishly, I collect the £2 silver proofs and many have this ‘feature’. I think it happens naturally over time and appears unique to the £2 denomination.
  9. OK - saving pennies for the Potter series - been waiting for years for an RM version. Also - Is a platinum £2 a new thing? I don't recall those being routinely produced.
  10. A 2011 silver proof Britannia, PF69, for around £95.
  11. The only reason that we ever got reduced VAT rate silver was because we were members of the EU. As such, the VAT rate was applied at the country of the sale (I.e. 6% if you bought from Germany) and no additional fees were due. This is no longer the case, 20% UK VAT is applicable and customs fees will also be added.
  12. I think it’s psychologically difficult for those who were used to the low VAT associated with buying from the EU to pay the additional tax + import duty. Certainly the case for me.
  13. The Mint now exists to produce commemorative coins - it celebrates historic achievements and events, of which this is undoubtedly one. I don't understand why you would be bemused by this one, more than any others. Your original post clearly offended people, whether it was meant to or not, maybe this is what you should reflect on.
  14. Nicest 50p design for a long time and a genuinely important milestone.
  15. The market for modern RM proofs has returned to its natural state, following a few years of unusually high secondary market prices, driven largely by Japanese buyers taking advantage of currency valuations. It’s not just Coin Cabinet auctions - I recently sold on eBay, a Bowie 1 oz silver and 2 oz silver, plus an Elton 1 oz silver, all graded PF69, for a total of £160, less than 50% of RRP. My worst eBay auction results since the metal price capitulation of 2011. Now is a dangerous time to sell anything modern using the no reserve auction format.
  16. The set was back in stock earlier this week, shipping end of June.
  17. It's 6% and started with yesterday's auction.
  18. I like this more than I was expecting - a new rabbit hole to fall down.
