  1. The servers have crashed, so can't pay anyway.
  2. They can't really win in the court of coin collecting opinion on this one. Nobody likes big mintages, but if there was ever an occasion for an unlimited range, then surely this is it. Lots of people want them, as 50,000 in the queue testifies to. It would seem unfair to end up with only the lucky first few onto the website getting anything.
  3. Several of the recent SOTD sovereigns carried old cyphers as Privy Marks. A Coronation SOTD sovereign with CRIII cypher privy mark? It's lucky he's not King Charles 7th, or there'd be trademark issues with a certain footballer.
  4. Coming to a SOTD Sovereign near you. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/26/king-charles-iiis-official-monogram-design-released-by-palace
  5. Similar tale - bought a 5 oz silver America the Beautiful coin from eBay, received a quarter dollar in the same design. Genuine mistake I think though. In another ATB related tale, I won (quite cheaply) three separate auctions for 5 oz silver coins on the same day from the same seller. A few days later he told me his car had been stolen with the coins in the boot.
  6. Actually, it turns out it’s now owned by BASF (German)!
  7. That would work, if Engelhard wasn’t American. 😃
  8. Not quite - have a different one for the car key.
  9. Been using this old Engelhard bar as a key fob for years now - getting a bit worn.
  10. True enough - 'Although VAT is charged throughout the EU, each EU country is responsible for setting its own rates'.
  11. VAT is entirely controlled by individual member states - hence the different VAT rates across the EU.
  12. Probably been said earlier in the thread, but platinum has one thing going for it that gold doesn’t - it’s £300 per oz cheaper than it was a decade ago. We know it can go a lot higher.
  13. Junk silver as close to spot as possible, 10 oz bars when I see a bargain and recently back to buying any pre-2013 Britannias I can find at the right price.
  14. The car park at Ferrybridge, very romantic.
  15. Yes, dealt with Mark a few times, including in person at a motorway service station.
  16. It's only ever this, or just updated the spreadsheet with the recent increase. These are the only two options that always hold.
  17. I think the buy to flip craze is dying out as quickly as it arrived. The events of this week have given it a final burst of life, but it will pass. You needed neither time nor technical opportunity to buy an Una (the coin that is basically responsible for the buy to flip craze), as they took days and weeks to sell out. I foolishly watched them slowly disappear without realising what I was missing.
  18. Difficult to get these around spot now. Only bought one set in the last 12 months. Similarly, it’s a struggle to find these much below £20/oz. 80% Canada Dollars and Halves are still my favourite.
  19. He had a lot of issues. I’m going to work on the assumption that 2023 Lunar Rabbits will be easier to pick up than the Henry VIII coins.
  20. For this very reason, I ordered an extra Yale or two and even ordered a silver rabbit. I might be wrong, but I can’t find any historical precedent for a monarch appearing on a coin dated with the year after they died. Although not an error, as they were proclaimed by the Queen, they are an unarguable novelty and will always tell a story. I’m guessing the Harry Potter coins may also fall into this category.
  21. I might be wrong, but I don’t think this is a new one. Seems to have been around earlier in the year.
  22. Atkinsons, as in the dark as the rest of us: On the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we are currently working with the Royal Mint to clarify the situation with stock and will update our website shortly
