  1. This is very true, aslo as @JJH said the seller doesn’t accept returns... but the seller is the person responsible for ensure the product arrives in satisfactory condition. Although i do understand it then becomes an issue to "prove blame".
  2. I agree, now with the clearer pictures from @JJH it look to be more of abrasion markings, rather than moisture or acid as @James32 and others first thought. To confirm this at least in theory, you could get a compass and measure (carefully so not marking the coin) the circle type ring on the capsule, and see if that alignment to the high spot (and marking) on the coin fit together. Hope that makes sense?
  3. @JJH if you have no loupe then I would suggest that you try to take as best as possible (in focus) picture of the affected area. You can then crop the photo to just have this area in screen. Allowing you to in effect "zoom in" obviously not as good/clear as a loupe but you may be able to see if there is scratches or if it look like something "stuck" ontop.
  4. @JJH have you tried looking at the area in question through a loupe? May give you some indication. If there is small scratch would help to explain. In your wnd photo with the top of the capsule off it also looks like there maybe damage or the same effect to tbis again have a look at that through the loupe.
  5. The follow up question to that is....if they move to digital currency with they keep making gold/silver coins? I understand that the while technically Britannia and Sovereigns are legal currency they are not really used as such. So will they stop making these all together and just be Gold Silver Bar's?
  6. Huge shout out to @arphethean great service as always, for my humble haul I received!
  7. I wonder how long the KC 3rd will keep that portrait on there or if i will likely change in the near future to a different variation. i think that could affect the future premium on the coin.
  8. It's a mystery, but an exciting one... if not slightly frustrating.... wait a minute is it a sales tactic 😅
  9. Quick off the bat with the correct response, TSF is such a great place for just this sort of thing. Thanks, because now I do too!
  10. Hello and welcome, There is no fixed "best way" as its different for everyone. Do you want Coins/Bars, Gold/Silver, UK/Foreign, Bullion/Numismatic? That's not me trying to throw lots of things at you, just asking a few questions, that may help to guide your journey into collecting and stacking. Please feel free to ask questions people here are happy to help.
  11. In theory yes if a sudden huge amount of gold was found, refined and flooded the market you would expect a drop in spot price. But that has as yet happened, in fact they are trying to "re-mine" old sites as machinery has become more effective and efficient. Where as the costs of new mining has become increasingly more expensive.
  12. I think this is more of what @Solachesis was talking about. With the increased price in gold (and hopefully steady progression) more people are starting to think CGT wise. Especially if they do lower the threshold I becomes even more prevalent. Meaning that UK coins (Sovereign/ Britannia) become a "easier" sell than foreign coins. That's not to say you can't have any, nor you will not be able to shift them. But if you thinking over time the CGT free coins have to play a part, especially as you have said you have gold bars already and they will use up that allowance.
  13. Did kinda think this, don't get me wrong I guess they are trying to gauge how many to make but since they are limited with bullion as you say pump out (insert number here) then when they sell stamp more?
  14. @MtaybarLooking good, I like this idea!
  15. Sounds like a great business plan, where do I sign???
  16. @arphethean did you get an answer to this in the end?
  17. This is the viedo I was referring too... https://youtu.be/3GiMY-1LHR4
  18. Have to be careful doing this as with anything, there is associated risks. If people get suspicious that your trying to avoid paying Tax then you will be charged that and then a fine on top
  19. Please don't think I don't believe you, I wasn't questioning your statement was just saying what was on the video, which less face it is marketing at the end of the day
  20. Hmm in the video (not sure of its date) the use separate dies for the proof. Carved to a deeper depth so more relief is transferred. Then some clear tape, and diamond polish to get the matt and shiny effect on the coin
  21. @GoldDiggerDave i forget the post no but someone recently shared one of the RM's viedo explaing the difference in the 3 strike types and why they did each and the affects.
  22. If you look at the top of the page on The Silver Forum (TSF) you can view it in USD, alternatively there are apps such as "Kitco live" will tell you the live price. Maybe useful for yourself can change currency and from Oz to Gram
  23. For myself I like to keep a historic track of it for a few reasons A) curiosity I can see how much profit or loss I had per coin C) I can see how long I kept it for, to achieve said profit/ loss. Therefore can influence my future descions.
