It’s now an expensive ‘club’ to join, as with any 1oz gold. ATS where I normally go, are selling these at about £1960!
Like many TSF members, certainly couldn’t afford one today. Mine, bought many years ago cost £510, but if you hang on to them long enough there’s a profit to be made. But this design is one to keep I feel. It has lovely sharp edges, matte finish, and just what gold should look and feel like……

Strong grade with great details remaining across both faces
Two points to note - scratches to field on obverse, and what looks like a mark having been clamped by a metal tool, afflicting the G of Gratia and the I of Fid. Otherwise a very pleasing coin.

All listed dates and mints are common to rare, (except list 2 which are rare+) in The Sovereign series book (Michael A. Marsh, Revised by Steve Hill). Quite a good book by the way for those collecting Sovereigns.
I'm happy to consider any of the above. I have a limited budget so please don't feel offended if after I have bought a few I tell you I may need to pass go a few time before I can start spending again. List 2 Is really unobtainable, with the best I could hope for is up to R3. The list being classed as follows :-
R2 - Very Rare
R3 - Extremely Rare
R4 - 11 to 20 examples estimated to have survived
R5 - 5 to 10 examples estimated to have survived
R6 - 3 to 4 examples Known to exist
R7 - 1 or 2 examples Known to exist

Hi everyone to my 1st post
I’m fairly new to bullion coins/rounds and recently I got some coins from an online dealer, not unknown to this forum. Though now I am pretty happy they are silver, having done all the measuring and tests i can (including a homemade pinger made  from lab tongs) I did initially wonder about some possible quality issues. 
I’d like to ask you all if any of you have experience with theses samples. 
1st up. Somali 23 wildlife elephant 100 shilling. I find them rather dull white, apart from highly reflective areas.  2. Tchad 23 goddess europa 5000fr. i find the relief of the bull to be rubbed or possibly malformed. No other visible scratches in the flats. Kind of disappointed with the definition. Are they all like this? is it that they may have been pre owned or is that just the minting quality? 3 Tchad 23 Bull Bear 5000fr. Same comments as 2 really. Muscle tone and fur only really show if i shine the light across it. otherwise its pretty white and flat. On the shield side i have only just noticed the arrows on the Ram and Lion.  4 Noah’s Ark 23. I really did seriously wonder about these until I got a sample from a totally trusted supplier. Then I couldn’t find a single difference down to the 0.01 gr So in conclusion:
am i expecting too much definition? Even if they are mint new? i don’t have a physical dealer near me to ask and everyone takes photos with very hard light and black reflections so its hard to tell. Even MY pics i did with black reflections look good, but I do wonder.  Any advice you guys n gals may have would be much appreciated. ps sorry about the phone reflections in the photos Thanks, Chrispy

I am in the process of building a 6 month emergency fund for the family at the moment, so to help do that I need to part ways with this lovely 1997 1 oz Australian Platinum Koala coin in its original square cap holder.
The coin itself is in magnificent condition, the holder may have a minor scratch or two but excellent given its age. The mintage of this coin is quite low at just 41,153.

I believe there may also be a SOTD BUNC cupronickel 50p at the Royal Mint. They are running tours until 9pm that day...

I'm sure the 2021 SOTD Decimal 50p got up to £1,250 - and the price of gold was a lot lower then!

I really like this design on the 50p but the mint has lost their minds with prices £1220 for 15.5g of 22ct
