jultorsk reacted to Orpster in Which Sovs to sell
From a market perspective, memorial and coronation sovereigns are not selling very high, and Atkinsons have platinum's in stock for £390 so you would need to beat that price
Gillicks always sell well and from what you listed seem the natural choice
Young Heads sell well always, though the premium on common bullion, especially shields , is as low as it has been for a long time, variants and rare's still preforming well though
You forget to mention the graded I know you have special years are doing OK, though the memorials are tanking and the coronations are below rrp unless PF70
Bad time to sell at the moment though as its a race to the bottom for premiums with too many sellers and not enough buyers on most platforms.

jultorsk reacted to trp in 🎅 2023 Christmas Prize Draws 🎅 Entry open Worldwide
It is time for the 2023 Christmas Prize Draw entries. Last year there were over 80 entrants. I believe, you can see last years Christmas Prize Draw topic here, to have an idea as to some of the prizes that were offered.f This year we are keeping the same 1oz minimum silver entry.
Anyone wanting to be entered please list your interest below, by the 26th November 2023 (UK time) ONLY PEOPLE WHO DONATE A PRIZE WILL BE ENTERED INTO THE DRAW. Daily draws will commence from the 30th November.
Everyone who enters the draws will receive a prize. And everyone who enters will need to donate a prize as per the conditions at the bottom of this post.
Last year, each day running up to Christmas, draws were released in batches and each prize that was donated was matched up to a winner. The draw(s) itself/themselves will start on the 30th of November, to accommodate those who enter from abroad. All prizes will be assigned randomly to the winners, either by using a random number generator or using a spreadsheet program to randomly match up prizes to winners.
If you already know what the prize is that you will be entering into the draw, please feel free to post the prize below. This will help to encourage more members to join the Christmas Prize Draws and to donate good prizes. If you are unsure of the prize you will be entering but know that you would like to enter you can still state your interest in joining below, to be included in the draws, and add your prize details later.
Conditions of entry:
Minimum prize value of 1oz of silver or £25 GBP / $30 USD / applicable currency equivalent cash value of an alternative prize.
Members entering must hold Premium Membership. As well as Premium Membership helping to support TSF to grow, choosing to only allow Premium Members to enter also means that there is less risk of an entrant defaulting on sending their prize. Any members who enter but does not follow through on their entry risk their account status. We do not anticipate that there will be any issues this year Feel free to purchase Premium Membership to then enter the draw below.
As TSF is a worldwide forum, any member who enters does so under the condition that they agree to post the prize worldwide to the winner and to cover the cost of standard world-wide shipping. It is the receivers responsibility to pay any applicable taxes and import duties etc that may be imposed by customs when receiving an international parcel.
Entry is available to any Premium Member in any country worldwide.

jultorsk got a reaction from GoldenPeanutButter in On the €10,000 cash-equivalents customs declaration at the airport...
Yes, been often contemplating on this when crossing the Australian border over the years... the limit is AU$10,000 - at today's spot the equivalent of about 3 full and a 1/4 Brit.

jultorsk reacted to James32 in Likely mintages for 2022 jubilee sovereigns?
I don't think @LawrenceChard withdrew from the forum because of a comment someone made, I'd like to think he has thicker skin than that and always was able to give as good as he got. Maybe I'm wrong though and the daft "free postage" question eventually wore his nerves out.
Onto your main question, whilst nobody can actually answer definitively unless the mint tells us, I personally believe the mintage will have been high and they sold a shedload. There was a lot of hype at the time ( rightfully so ) and bucket loads sold on here which obviously came from dealers initially, they still pop up and sell almost instantly if priced right.
The memorial bullion sov I believe hasn't sold as well in my opinion, dealers seemed to have a smaller window to stock them ( probably the mint having/trying to release the coronation asap, and overall they seem less sought after in general.

jultorsk reacted to GoldenPeanutButter in On the €10,000 cash-equivalents customs declaration at the airport...
I think this mostly applies to the EU and Northern Ireland, but since the rule hasn't been adjusted for inflation the threshold in number of gold coins we can carry with us, without triggering the rule, has been silently dropping.
This might seem obvious since monopoly money has lost value over time, but I found it more surprising once I got the data (please double check it):
Year Gold Price ($/oz) EUR/USD Gold Price (€/oz) Gold Price (€/g) Sovereigns (€10,000) Britannias (€10,000) 2007 656.50 1.36 481.48 15.48 88.22 20.77 2008 942.50 1.59 593.59 19.08 71.56 16.85 2009 941.00 1.41 665.45 21.39 63.83 15.03 2010 1206.30 1.25 964.46 31.01 44.04 10.37 2011 1482.30 1.45 1022.49 32.87 41.54 9.78 2012 1597.20 1.27 1262.09 40.58 33.66 7.92 2013 1255.90 1.30 965.03 31.03 44.02 10.36 2014 1326.40 1.37 968.63 31.14 43.85 10.32 2015 1169.00 1.11 1049.84 33.75 40.46 9.53 2016 1336.70 1.11 1203.58 38.70 35.29 8.31 2017 1217.90 1.14 1066.17 34.28 39.84 9.38 2018 1239.80 1.17 1061.60 34.13 40.01 9.42 2019 1385.60 1.14 1219.19 39.20 34.84 8.20 2020 1773.20 1.12 1578.15 50.74 26.92 6.34 2021 1775.90 1.19 1497.79 48.16 28.36 6.68 2022 1798.90 1.05 1716.89 55.20 24.74 5.82 2023 1921.70 1.09 1761.81 56.64 24.11 5.68
Right, so in 2007 (ChatGPT tells me this is when the rule was created) you could bring with you 20 1oz gold Britannias without having to declare anything. Today that number is around 5.
If you plot the thresholds, that is the number of coins you can travel with without doing the customs declaration:
I'm afraid the conclusion from this is that, unless the rule is adjusted, there will be a time when we'll have to declare even a single Britannia. Perhaps something worth thinking about.

Good messages from @Roy @Anteater @BackyardBullion
TBH perceived privacy is important - there is 0% chance I'd give my home address to a register maintained by a broadly anonymous party / persons. That's a hard red line.
Sorry, not sorry.

jultorsk reacted to Geovest in Vienna Philharmonic 2018 Silver Coins
I have just had a call from my bank, they have concluded their investigation and concluded that I was blameless in this scam and have refunded me in full. This is a great result.
I would like to thank all the members on this tread for their support and good wishes. I would also specifically like to thank @BackyardBullion for setting up the victims pool and to all the members that so generously contributed to that. I was very touched by this and now thankfully will not need to make use of that. This is a great credit to the spirit and integrity of the members on this forum. Maybe the proceeds of that fund can form the backbone of a fund for future scam victims.
Thanks again and best wishes to everyone.
