  1. The 100 Henry 1 oz golds sold out quickly but it seems a lot of them were returned to the RM as there was no profit in them on Ebay.
  2. Received my 5 oz Portrait this morning. Still no sign of the Quartered Arms. What is wrong with these people?
  3. How is the colour of the black pieces created, simply artificial toning or some kind of paint?
  4. I'm not quite sure what you mean by this statement, it seems an 'oxymoron' of sorts, certainly contradictory. Referring to the 1820 sovereign as we are, whether you look at it with a loupe or with the naked eye, it clearly isn't uncirculated by any definition. There is obviously substantial wear in the areas you usually see it on. It is usual for dealers to give a rough description of coins they sell, and IMHO for a reputable dealer to describe this coin as UNC, is a travesty of the truth. I and everyone else here seem to agree it just about achieves EF which is how NGC have graded it. Maybe dealers shouldn't grade their coins and simply say "here is a xxxx year sovereign, have a look at it and decide to buy it or not", but that wouldn't work so well with distance selling.
  5. I think that would be very good idea, you should look at the practicalities and platform costs. Staff time to receive, catalogue and check consigned coins. Postage and packing should be cost neutral. From our POV, the more options and competition the better. TCC charge a straight 10% so if you could get below that?😉
  6. I've often wondered this myself. Maybe because the number produced will invariably be less than the single sovereign?
  7. It's not 'news' until it's on the BBC😁
  8. A fair amount I would say. It would be interesting to compile the data for amount of 'new' gold mined yearly against how much is 'consumed' in the electronics industry, compared to how much is actually recycled.
  9. Bullion is bullion mate. From what I see, 1oz brits tend to be priced at spot or a few pounds above spot on here. Might be slightly more premium on fractionals. I suggest you sell the ounce at 0.5% and look for more premium on the others.
  10. You £2800 at the moment would be a 3.3% premium, so bullion price. I assume they are proof but these sets don't usually have much collector premium. See what @Pete sold his for a couple of years ago.
  11. Looks like the RM want your old e-waste now, and you will be able to buy it back as coins😁 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-60796417
  12. Similar actually. If you wanted to supress the price, simply publish the paper that shows how to do it. The prospect of cheap manufactured gold, it's price would plummet. Actually, I'm surprised they haven't tried this yet. Get the MSM to spread the rumour it can be done.
  13. Hardly "creating" gold, simply reducing a gold salt to metallic gold. This is the true alchemy. The holy grail would be to convert a base metal to gold, but you wouldn't tell anybody or produce much all in one go; drip feed the market🤫
  14. Even though we both bought early on the morning, I believe we both had to contact them to ensure the continuity order for the portrait was active. This involved someone having to cancel the original order and adding the continuity order, which is classed in their system as a different order. It seems to be incapable of changing from one to the other. Mine had to be done by the CS supervisor and also on the Saturday morning to ensure there was no possibility of someone else selling my coin between one being cancelled and the new order being made!
  15. Don't think they are rare enough to buy at that price and grade personally. BTW Could you think about uploading your photos to TSF server rather than making them a download to readers please?
  16. Nothing unusual at the moment mate, the Mint still haven't delivered some Gothic Quatered Arms from early December.
  17. Known error as far as I am aware. I think there a couple of variations on this, this S clearly gave the engraver problems😁
  18. Amazing the difference angle of light can make to photos. Looking at the first few I would say I have never seen one so good, but I'm sure those scratches or polish lines or whatever won't be as bad as they look in the last couple of photos. Also would be interested to know who your dealer is.😎
  19. They say they test them by XRF and I have no reason to question this. No idea what their acceptable limits are but if the weight and size are spot on, should be genuine.
  20. I think that is true in general but there are some definitely quite red.
  21. I don't see how that can achieve higher than EF58 especially with the scratches. Someone might well find some photos of similar coins graded higher but you can always find some you scratch your head about.😁
