  1. So I summarised my thoughts and you responded with “you reckon???” You may wish to re-evaluate this given the values you espoused in your reply? Not looking for a fight mate, just a genuine conversation.
  2. Aye, that’s why I wrote it, you have other thoughts?
  3. Perhaps people ordering by bank transfer and not following through? I have ordered2, my concern is if you get the dregs compounded with the no returns policy. Now if the mint would return to sealing them properly there would be no dubiety buying from the independents(provided u get an unopened, sealed product) I fear they want their cake and eat it also.
  4. My concern is why does the mint permit these other releases like the Alderney? Provided they keep production mainly (entirely) in-house I think long term they will do fine. second concern is the mint do another release of the same coin, 10 to 15 years down the line. Not beyond the realms as I think marketing will not give a damn by then, way things are going. If you are a reseller, it won’t matter.
  5. Ukgoldcoins have 1 in stock again at 799.
  6. Grade them if you ever decide to sell if grading is still in vogue then. Until then, enjoy them how you like.
  7. OMG, ain’t seen this one before. And snake eyes and a snakes tongue for a nose. What an awful coin. I’m assuming it did well as I hate it?
  8. Some of the smaller dealers don’t accept returns. You may be able negotiate a cancellation if coin is not dispatched from dealer and you have confirmed RM order. Dealer may be happy to resell again for even more.
  9. I’m in Scotland and get DHL for the more expensive orders. We are on the periphery so they use a subcontractor for the last leg of the journey.
  10. Do you have a link with further info? Westminstrel found this a few months ago.
  11. Didn’t see any snarky comments in the post you copied, just someone’s synopsis of the current situation. Woops, just reread the last paragraph, retract the above!
  12. Independent retailers should be made to evidence they have sold on at a reasonable price on the release date IMHO
  13. Take your point to certain extent however I do think that these coins will do well long term also. They are remakes of classics and as long as the mint doesn’t kick the arid out of it (far from guaranteed) or stopping permitting editions from “insert non descriptive island here) they should do well. I think they will be onto a winner with the other classic red trike series starting with Henry VII Sovereign. I am not so sure with the other jubilee coins, steered clear other than the sovs.
  14. I think you will get the standard blurb from the mint but be wary. If you decide to return include a letter with the coin stipulating the coin is your property and if they cannot replace you want it returned. If you decide to sell in the end send me a PM. Stu
  15. Minor imperfections, not sure if it would affect grading if going down that route. I would suggest putting on sale here for cost plus £100 if not happy. Chances of a replacement from the mint are low I would think. That way someone else can appreciate the coin.
  16. For some a £260 outlay, especially this time of year is a hard period to keep cash locked up, never mind holding out until March or whenever they will have another outlay for the portrait. . The hype has been quite high with these, I suspect some folk blocking collectors out the RM QIT system will be the same folks flipping trainers or whatever is hot.
  17. Hehe I think these will do v well at 1200 mintage. Very few will be able to get from the mint who want them.
  18. What price were they going for mate?
  19. Just got this general flyer through the mail today. FFS , they must be marketing the whole country as we are right on the periphery.
  20. Aye, so it’s the norm to have a separate order for quartered arms only that moves to closed orders when dispatched and then the order as above remains in open orders for the portrait ?
  21. Is this what folks have in open orders for continuation set? I had a separate order for quartered arms, just wondering if another may be dispatched soon.
