  1. indeed, I'm glad it wasn't a Chinese fake!
  2. Update: As of today, we had received more of our awaited deliveries of 2021 gold sovereigns, 2021 gold Britannias, and 2021 silver Britannias. This was enough to enable us to clear all outstanding orders for all three of these products (for probably the first time in 18 months if we include 2020 coins). This marks a definite step towards normality. We have seen a few big sales of the 2021 gold Britannias since weekend, so instead of having a few weeks of anticipated stock, we may well sell out in the next few hours, but... this still represents a big step. Whether the situation continues to get closer to normal, and whether there are more delays in the next few weeks and months, is still too early to call, but we will be monitoring the situation on our usual daily basis.

    A bargain?

I was just going to comment on that. It's probably only gold plated, otherwise it would weigh about 100 kilos. Probably just a P.R. stunt.
  4. I like the way you feel you need to justify looking at ebay! 😎

I think you were meaning @muneeb, rather than me. 🙂
  6. My / our experience with Fedex is bad. Although some suppliers use them to supply us, there are often delays, incorrect or omitted customs entries, missing parcels, stolen parcels, refusal by Fedex UK to honour value limits agreed by sender with Fedex International, and probably much more. Out of all couriers, our insurers offer us the lowest insurance cover on sendings via Fedex. This was also the case with our previous insurers. From memory, Fedex's own compensation cover is limited to $50, and I think there is also an exclusion on money, precious metals, and valuables. I'm glad it works for you though! 🙂
  7. Yes. It is explained on the linked page "*Companies owned by a single group selling the same product at different prices." 🙂

I agree that there are two valuable lessons here and it has actually made this thread worthwhile... but.. I am not convinced that "...the OP has learned..."🙂

... and it does not matter to the other person you are trying to screw over? Your comment also carries the clear implication that the other person does not matter either. Perhaps you should have used a noun instead of a verb as your thread title. 🙂

Some of your comments seem confusing, confused, or both, but the above seems crystal clear. You agreed a deal (contract) at £445, then you freely admit that you tried to renegotiate the price downwards in your favour. This is not an ethical or acceptable way of trying to transact business in the UK or most other civilised countries, although it may be standard practice in some parts of the world. Is your honour or reputation really worth as little as £5? You would only ever pull a similar trick on me once, ever! 🙂
  12. I guess you were meaning the quarter sovereign?
  13. I'm trying to find a good extra-terrestrial TV! 🙂
  14. I suspect you have been reading too many of @Minimalist's posts! 🙂
  15. I would be happy for you to organise one. I believe I normally write clearly and without ambiguity. I am intrigued to know what I said which you appear to have misconstrued.
  16. That's all entirely consistent with what I said. If you look, I was advising to ignore all or most of the hype which was aimed at talking silver demand and prices up. I don't know what has happened to the hype, because I don't take much notice of it. Any potential buyers who ignored the hype, and waited, now have a more favourable buying opportunity. I think that makes me right, unless we are being Alice Through the Looking Glass. Of course, nobody knows where the silver price is going next, except for the rather eccentric TSF member who forecast it to imminently crash to $4 about a year ago. I forget his name. 🙂
  17. Some answere here: https://www.chards.co.uk/blog/how-can-i-pay-for-gold-and-silver-bullion/223 Cash You may pay by cash up to the equivalent of €10,000 over a rolling 5 year period. This includes anybody connected to you such as a friend, spouse or other relation. Cash can be paid at our showroom or into our bank account at any Royal Bank of Scotland or National Westminster Bank. Unfortunately, there are no discounts for cash payments. If paying by cash, you may be asked to supply two forms of identification; a passport and a photo driving licence OR one of these in addition to a recent utility bill with your current name and address, dated within the last three months. We would not recommend sending cash through the post. There is no charge for this payment method. The above needs an update, @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer, mainly in regard to cash payments exceeding €10,000 which will generally require the dealer to be registered as a High Value Dealer, and also require extra AML compliance checks from the customer, in addition to the standard ID checks. which not everybody is keen to provide. 🙂
  18. I think everyone here knows that silver spot price is down from over £18.50 to about £17.50 since Thursday 5th August. Why all the discussions about why, what caused the drop, inflation, etc.? Just happily accept the price drop, and get buying. Action not words! 🙂

  20. It's best to crop your photos before posting, or even just for your own use. Many phones can do this, and there is plenty of free software which you can use. We happen to use Adobe Photoshop, which is expensive overkill. Here is a 1/10 ounce platinum noble reverse as an example: We have got pne ounce photos also, but this was the first image I found.
  21. I suspect the penalty for fraud in and within China is execution, which is a strong deterrent. It seems not to apply to fake stuff sold to the rest of the world, which the Chinese government appear to encourage, sponsor, and subsidise.
  22. Hardly touch the stuff, needs to be at least 70% cocoa solids. Never tried Chinese chocolate though.
