Well technically yes, however the markets are already reacting to rate cuts before they happen, so when the cuts actually come, the movement up might be smaller than expected.

I have only ever had scrap melted into a bar.
With postage it costs around £170 to melt and assay.
Because of the costs I wait until I've got at least 5.5kg.
You could save a bit on postage if you live close to one of the assay offices.

What percent is the gold?  If you have the bar assayed then I can help. Most refiners will need a min of 100 g gold in their 12 kg bar. I have a 4.5 kg bar wirh 40 g gold in it. I chucked in lot of scrap 9 karat gold in it along with a couple of soldered half sovs. You could do the same, get really bad gold coins and add them to the pot so that the refiners would accept it.

The forum software was incrementally updated, as this was a small update release and mainly contained a security patch we upgraded and didn't think there would be any issues.

There is however something (i.e. some custom plugin/application from our extensive list of modifications) that is causing some issues on TSF since we updated the forum software.

Some things may look different or not work currently whilst we try to locate and fix the issues. I had believed I had fixed the necessary ones yesterday but today there was issues again. There may also be some very short bursts of downtime whilst we are looking into this, apologies for the inconvenience caused we are working to fix it all.

I think that people have been spoiled on this forum, and despite the prices of Silver being extremely cheap, its as if some people expect to buy Britannia's at around spot.
I have a few Britannia's to shift and as usual I will incur a small loss.
From now on I'm only going to buy scrap Silver as it can be bought for around the scrap price and it can be easily offloaded to a Bullion dealer.
I sold a little bit of Gold a couple of months ago and just sold it to Atkinson's as it's hassle free and you receive the same price as on the forum.

When I started this thread I didn't expect the explosion that happened. It was just an observation of the current market using a bit of basic economics.
My question was nothing to do with vat fraud we all know it happening so that's nothing new. As a sidebar to that it has nothing to with Race, Creed or religion is fuelled by basic greed.
    So I reiterate.
Are we at a point with silver where the major manipulation and it is major of a price point has affected the secondary market.
Reading all the comments I believe we are and i will be adjusting my investments accordingly as its now obvious to many that silver is no longer an investment commodity in the UK for a while to come.
There will always be those that believe cheap is best that's just the insular society we live in today where the bigger picture is not their problem And then the moaning starts when it's time to sell as we are already seeing.
