You'd think? But I've always found 13 inches to be very impractical!

I’ve been looking for a nice old wooden box to keep my stack in for a while. Came across this yesterday which is just fantastic. I can’t wait to get it!! It’s a Victorian jewellery box dating for 1860-1890 and has been professionally restored.

@richatthecroft that box is very nice. Even better that it’s silver ?.

I would love to get some sovereign scales. That would be so cool. Maybe some of the Victorian silver sovereign holders to accompany it too. Not that I’d put sovs in them as they’d probably scratch them haha. Oh this could get expensive ?.

It'd be great to put some Victorian sovereigns in a period box like yours @Lea79
I'd have to gather all the paraphernalia though, the scales and leather/silver sov holders too!
What is the finish on that box @richatthecroft? Lacquer? Crossed post

I did think it was a little girly for you gentlemen. You’ve gotta appreciate the beauty in it tho.
It is quite practical. It’s 13inches long!! Should fit all my proofs in boxes, graded coins and my loose coins. The top tray slots can be removed to make more room.

Maybe a tad girly but like you say, but practical and you can get stuff organised, unlike my ungainly Sterling Silver Cigar box that already weighed 1.2kg prior to filling it up!

The marquetry and inlaid mother of pearl on the outside of that box is really nice. i cannot see the panel in the inside of the lid but the general layout appears Chinese.
No good for my silver stack, i need packing crates but the gold would fit in there nicely.

Nice box.
my wife always chants 'Fe-fi-fo-fum....' whenever I lift this out of its hiding place...I can't think why
All my favorites in one place

I love that 2003 Brit. Even though the 2003 design has a higher mintage than some of the other alternative designs, it’s still a looker of a coin. Matte proof too. Nice ?.
