I’m interested in finding out what causes lumps & bumps as well as the lines on the bottom of the Umicore bar I recently picked up. I actually like the irregularities, just curious in the process of making these bars and what can affect the casting process, as they all seem a bit different! This bar had bulges on the top, presumably causing the edges of the letter punch to be visible? It’s also has a curved bottom ? Thanks in advance if you can shed some light on the process or have any good YouTube links etc!

Seems to be, if you’re into numismatic value at least. Going for 1000 - 1100 on eBay.

These days I only buy preowned on the VAT margin scheme, but you’re still paying 20% premiums on kilo bars, more on coins

Now Out Of Stock 28.01.24 Pre-owned 1kg silver bar (mixed mints) - £697.90 at BullionByPost inc. delivery. Cheaper than all other main dealers, which is unusual for BBP in my experience, and made me pull the trigger on one. Anybody got any experience with pre-owned mixed mint bars? I just can’t see the logic in going after such niche markets as coins commemorating members of the extended royal family. Does feel like RM are struggling to keep their customer base. Keep innovating on bullion coin quality/security I’d say 👍
