  1. Hi, I'm looking to buy a 1953 Canada silver dollar. It will be a gift so needs to be in good condition, preferably minimal wear and tarnishing, and would be a bonus if it came well presented in a fitted capsule. Not in any rush for this one but budget is limited. I don't get much time on the forum at the moment so please drop me a private message and I'll get back to you within 24 hours. Thanks Minted
  2. Thanks for the courier confirmation. In the end I decided I couldn't justify the cost for a new one with the VAT as well. They are nice coins but I think they've pushed the premium too far on them. I'll keep an eye out for a second hand one instead. 🙂
  3. Must admit, I'm happy with mine. Though I haven't directly compared it to any of the older ones. Maybe I'll just keep it totally separate after seeing the difference in yours. 😄
  4. Looks like they spent all of about 10 minutes on MS Paint making that. 😄
  5. I think it may be a figment of your imagination. I can only see the crowned portrait on 1oz Britannia's in either gold or silver. No fractionals.
  6. 2023 Charles III 1/4oz Gold Britannia | BullionByPost - From £423.40 (Edit - Sorry, not that one either. Not crowned portrait. Releasing bullion 'Coronation' coins as well as bullion Brits with a Coronation portrait has made things complicated.)
  7. It's not only the vouchers that don't apply to the coin category, we no longer earn any Nectar points at all from coin purchases on eBay. 😞
  8. Brilliant design! Clearly put some thought into modernising the old one for modern day convenience. 🙂 I'd be interested in one later in the year. Reckon you'd get plenty of interest selling these on eBay as well.
  9. If it's a choice between a half sov or 6 silver Britannia's then I'd just go for the half sov. Better value for money. Takes up less storage space. If you want to collect something with visual interest and different designs, then 6oz of various silver could give you more enjoyment. Afterall, one tiny half sov isn't much to look at. I have a bit of both myself. 🙂
  10. I got my 1oz silver Coro proof a couple of weeks ago. Was a longer wait than expected. Think I prefer the bullion version though, seems like a clearer, less cluttered design. I've just seen that the 1oz silver bullion is expected to arrive at SilverTrader this week. As long as they're not far off £30, I'll probably grab one of those. On a slight tangent, I also received a 2022 proof 50p that I'd ordered many months ago. But am baffled by it having a very low certificate number. 200 odd. I saw them on eBay with numbers over 1000 at the beginning of this year. 🤔 I had assumed the numbers would all be roughly in dispatch order so not sure if this is just a one-off or not.
  11. Found this thread really interesting. I've bought a few graded coins and was considering potentially having some graded myself in future. Had no idea just how much paperwork was involved before even sending the coins. Think I'll probably just stick to buying them ready done! 😐
  12. I was surprised by just how small Roman coins were 2000+ years ago... Can barely make out the design on some of them and I don't even need glasses! Perhaps we're just too used to 'pinch & zoom' nowadays that we've become less able to focus on small things? 🤔
  13. I'm a big fan of Kooks as well. Got a few 1oz silver & 1/10th gold. 🙂 Not sure on the size as Perth Mint supply them in fitted capsules. I have noticed other 1oz silver coins vary considerably.

    Premiums on gold

Anyone know much it costs to make a brand new tenth? (Tooling, labour, energy etc) Guessing that'll be a flat rate almost regardless of coin size and presumably gone up recently? The premium on 1oz silvers is also high now, even before adding VAT.
  15. Really like the simple design of these. Probably a silly question but are the magnets strong enough to work through capsules?
  16. I've ordered a brand new one this month. And bought a WW1 date last month. So both for me, though I'm choosing specific dates and good condition rather than just cheapest available.
  17. You have to make sure the sender fills out the custom form correctly. As long as the customs code is correct for VAT-free investment gold then it should fly straight through customs without any extra charges.
  18. May just be aluminium from food & drink cans that someone chucked on on a camp fire years ago. What are the rough dimensions of the 15g piece?
  19. Was that from Marketplace or a group? I've been too worried about fakes to even consider buying PM's on FB so far lol.
  20. Have you got a picture? I can't find any info about this one online.
