  1. Thanks, registered. At least I won't need a magnifying glass for those. 😄
  2. I had a similar issue with RM last year. No confirmation email but the payment showed as pending in banking app. Emailed RM after a few days and they said the same sort of thing as above, that payment would eventually be returned as the order hadn't been completed. Expected a more efficient service for such a major retailer tbh.
  3. I think they chose the 1/40th size to keep the customer price under £100. I considered one briefly, until I read the diameter was 8mm! Reckon a lot of people will be disappointed when they receive them.
  4. I'm also a big Bond fan and have bought quite a few Bond coins & bars. However, this isn't one of them. The design is too plain for me, packaging isn't anything special either. I have no desire to purchase one of these for the collection, and can't see it being a good financial investment.
  5. Thanks for the heads up! With this one being 24 hours, I suspect all the decent items will have been bought by the night-owls before Wednesday morning! 😄
  6. Don't suppose you'd split? I'd take 6 at £35 each if so. 🙂
  7. Found this thread a very interesting read myself. Can anyone justify why the price of the Sigma is so high, particularly given that it only does one test and is far from 'fool-proof'? I'd be interested to know how much the main electronic component in it costs?
  8. Do they need to be air-tight for gold? It won't tarnish like silver does. I can confirm that not all tenths are the same diameter though. I tried a Perth Tiger tenth in a spare cap I had (possibly from a Brit?) but it was too big. The 3g panda's are also an odd size so don't fit properly. Might be best to measure the coins you have before committing to any bulk orders.
  9. I highly recommend Silver Trader if looking at small quantities of 1oz silver coins. You have the option to pay by PayPal or BACS (1.4% discount for BACS). And there's discount for multiple purchases too. Items are always very well packaged, shipped quickly, and postage is included in the price. You're not going to get rich doing it, but that's my preference for 1oz coins now. I always pays by BACS for the discount and completely trust Martin to do so. I am a bit more cautious about using BACS with forum members.
  10. You only get the best scrap price by stripping all the insulation from the wire first. Looking at that lot, it'd take weeks of evenings and weekends.

Update on this. Now beginning of March and still no dispatch confirmation, let alone any sign of the coin. I did email again in mid Feb but got no response. I feel like I'm being taken for a mug now... Just wondered if anyone else on here was still waiting on items from TCM?
  12. I'd also be interested in one of these from a UK seller if any do appear.
  13. Hi, I've got a second-hand modern silver coin with a considerable amount of toning around the edge. Suspect a faulty capsule or poor storage. (Or fake?) The coin isn't particularly valuable so I'd like to try cleaning it. It has both a shiny & frosted finish - not sure if that makes a difference to cleaning procedures? I have a 'silver cloth' which I was going to try gently first. If that failed, I'd then try 'dipping' with tinfoil and bicarb. Are either of those likely to cause more harm than good? Or any other simple methods I should try? As I say, it's not particularly valuable so not too fussed if it doesn't work and I end up selling for scrap! Thanks
  14. I've just checked my Nectar account and can confirm the bonus points were added. If you've got the Nectar app on a SmartPhone, tap 'Activity' at the bottom and scroll down to Feb 14th to check. 🙂
  15. Same here. It's something I would have bought anyway but will be a nice bonus if the extra points are added. Noticed many of the PM's in my watchlist disappearing quickly so many must have taken advantage of the offer.
  16. Hi, Just wondered if anyone knew who used the makers mark 'SJ' on gold jewellery in the mid 1970s? London assay mark should narrow down location a bit. I've Googled it but not found the same mark so far. Thanks
  17. Definitely more drama than documentary so far but I enjoyed it myself, looking forward to the rest of the series. 🙂
  18. Silver Trader is a great site for 1oz silver coins specifically. Silver Bullion Coins & Bars - Silver Trader UK Personally I find Britannia's a bit boring so prefer the novelty of varying designs. Depends on whether you'd like the children to keep them or whether they're just intended to be sold to fund something else.
  19. It'll be the Smartphone that created the large gaps. I had the same happen when trying to post from my phone the other day. Hitting enter leaves the cursor at the end of the sentence, but adds an extra paragraph below it. Naturally you assume it hasn't worked so hit enter again...and again, and again... I did eventually realise and remove the extra paragraphs but the overall phone posting experience on here was pretty awkward, at least on my phone. Works flawlessly on the laptop. Back on topic, if anyone is selling the odd Tuvalu Marvel round for £35 or less inc postage, feel free to drop me a PM. 🙂
  20. I've got a few, and after a few more...but not at the premium many sellers are asking. 😄
  21. I'm after a 10 pack of round capsules to suit 1oz silver coins. Prefer rimless so looking at Lighthouse Ultra. Dauwalders seems cheapest for these. £4.95 with free postage. Does anyone know how precise the internal measurement is? I was intending to buy 39mm caps, but one of the coins is specced as 38.9mm and worried it won't fit.
  22. What would I do with 3t of gold? Think I'd have it melted down and formed into car panels... 😉
  23. **Feb 4th Update** To save starting another thread, I've got a couple more storage questions if anyone can help? 🙂 Firstly, I've got a few RM collectable boxed coins, with the gloss covered cardboard boxes. I've noticed these scratch & scuff easily (seen on many ebay listings!) and was wondering how best to prevent that in storage? I considered wrapping them in kitchen paper but a single piece isn't large enough and it doesn't hold it's shape either. Next thought was tissue paper - but I've seen mention of acid in it damaging items over time and the colour coming off it as well. So that doesn't seem like a great idea unless I can be sure of buying some which is acid free and without colour. I'm not sure if even white tissue paper is dyed white or just bleached? Any other wrapping ideas? Second question - I've finally found an affordable 10oz silver No Time To Die bar and very pleased with it! Previous owner has put it in a capsule though and trapped a few bits of dust and dirt in there. What's the best way of 'cleaning' it without risking any damage or putting more dust and dirt in there? Thanks
