Postie delivered a nice 1994 Bank of England £2 to complete another perfect 3-coin set. 1994 case has a classic aged smell to it after 30 years. Like fine wine 😄

That's sad to hear that and perhaps all to often true. A few of my coins have come from Inheritance collections and those selling Just have no interest at all in the collection other than how much it's worth as they have their eye on some new shoes or a Holiday. Think the worst reason for the money I've heard was, A mate was getting married and they hadn't got enough to go on the stag do but their grandmother had just passed on their grandfathers collection. The grandmother had held on to it for years after the old man had passed away but she was quite poorly and had asked them to go there. I was told, if I can remember it correctly " The old battle axe should have given them to me years ago but at least it's in time for my mates stag night. Should be a mental night. If I can remember it after" Almost didn't buy them.
    It is such a shame.
With my girls I've tried to get them involved in their own finances from an early age. Eldest is 22 and the youngest is 6 in a few days. I've always tried to get them to actively save and to be fair on the whole the eldest one has tried to carry this on as best she can. Whilst currently saving may not be that possible she hasn't dipped into her savings and the little one, well, she's at the start of her journey. They both have a two saving pots. first one is their pot they can put spare cash, holiday and birthday money in. They have little targets to reach and goals. then from this they can use a percentage on things they want or need but a percentage equal or greater than what is spent goes in to their "forever/ future pot" that is to be used for the likes of emergencies of funding a home or for retirement. This way they're not starved of spending money. Saving becomes habit forming and purchases are thought about and not just impulse purchases. Ultimately they then have a financial safety net that gives peace of mind. The eldest has in the past thanked me for trying to teach her about finances as some of her mates are in a hell of a state and can't cope with their bills. Its a subject I believe should be taught to youngsters from an early age but never seams to be. Then as they leave school, get a job. What seems like the influx of money to them is wasted as they are ill-equipped to manage their finances. I know it's so hard to install these principles in the youngsters these days with all the external influences pushing them to buy now pay later and no point owning it just rent it for only when you need it. Newest phone or device.
Anyway getting into another topic there. If anyone has some pictures of their date runs that they care to share that would be nice.

Wish someone had said that on my introduction here 😂 though it didn’t take me too long to become disciplined around Silver.

The way I play gold was create an interesting stack for kids, hopefully they won’t sell, so date runs from birthday to 21 or series should/could help that aim. It’s kind of fun for me and stops me selling their collection’s and serves a purpose to protect their future. Totally agree with not paying excessive amounts, though certain coins I find I have to buy, the fact I’m intent on passing on and it’s all stored away with records for them also helps my discipline; only so much space.

So I finally had a call back from a manager today... what I was told was they decided the coins were too damaged and the decision had been taken to have them scrapped...  🤣
I pointed out they were NGC sealed and signed and that I had never heard such nonsense, and I knew of other people who had received them, so what I was being told was a load of BS... esp given they're Pyx coins...
they still haven't processed the refund nearly 2 months after the order...
    you couldn't make this up...

I would bet that, that coin has been in a lot dirtier hands than his in the last 135 years.  I bet some of your Victorian sovereigns that have never been cleaned have been hidden in the wearer of the time dirty underwear. Them Victorian would be lucky if they had a bath once a month and a family all using the same bath water.  This is where the saying comes from '' don't throw the baby out with the bath water'' as the smallest child washed last.
