Online voting is a security nightmare. It's a much harder problem than online banking, taxes, etc. If you're thinking of it in the same vein as those things then you don't understand the problem. (That's not intended to give offense - even many cyber/infosec people don't.)

If you check their website they call themselves "The Oxford Mint" and have a "history" page that talks about the (unrelated, historic) Oxford Mint while also referring to it as "The Oxford Mint". On the assay cards shown on the first post of this thread they have "The Oxford Mint" as their name at the top of the card with their mark, and then at the bottom it begins "The Oxford Mint was founded in 871AD".
I don't know whether you'd consider those "claims", but they seem uncomfortably conflated, particularly in the case of the assay card where they call both their company and the previous mint by the same name. They don't explicitly say that there is continuity between the organisations but surely one can imagine that an average reader might think so given the lack of clear indication on the card that there are different organisations mentioned.

It's clever marketing.  Aimed at foreign investors and peoples of a certain age I'd say.

The website gives history of the original Oxford Mint but of course this new company has no connection whatsoever . The are not based in Oxford , not minted in Oxford have nothing to do with Oxford other than use the name. I live and work there and know every business in town. To call yourself the reincarnation of the Oxford mint  surely you think they would have some connection with the town . So it is blatant false advertising  . Considering what they are selling that would be a huge red flag for me. The goods may be perfectly genuine, but they may as just as well called themselves the Gateshead mint.

I have just read the full thread.  Are the products *really* made in Germany and then sold as being from the Oxford Mint, with a Union Jack on the packaging?
That would be extremely odd - especially as there is something on the back of the packaging about keeping the U.K. together post Brexit.
Can you imagine the owner going onto Dragons Den with this sort of story…

"What do you think?" is a very broad question and IMO people's responses here absolutely fall within its scope. Furthermore, you must be aware that people are interested in, and do ascribe value to, heritage - even for bullion pieces.

So you didn't actually want to know what people thought?
Even if you had more tightly constrained your question/post, the fact is that trying to impose your own rules on a discussion thread on someone else's forum will tend to leave a bad taste in the mouth of many other commenters. There's a difference between remaining on topic and trying to control the narrative.

I love that default text from website templates is now such an easy way of detecting general dodginess. So many of them don't even take the time to remove the stuff they're not replacing with their own content.

Oh do stop being a fanny dear. It was just good due diligence, something that’s very healthy. No need to act like this. A straight forward answer would have been better to satisfy your honour, quiet quiet?. No need for extravagant challenges to debaite. If you were just showing the design then why get so hot under the old collar?

Nice bar, but it does look like a knock off Britannia bar royal mint version

Is the Oxford mint an actual mint or just a trading name? I’ve had a search online and there is loads about the old Oxford mint that was a mint but very little about ‘The Oxford mint limited’!

All comes down to price for me. What is the pricing structure for these? Not interested unless close to spot. In my view premiums would not be justified.

For me; Trying too hard and not quite getting it... Does it really need a Britannia, a lion, stylised waves and a sailing ship (Golden Hind) ?
The company logo reminds me of something that i can't quite put my finger on !
    I'd take a few at £60 a pop, free postage 😁

    Oh dear.
So, I would have been super interested if this had been a mint with lost history that had been resurrected by the treasury as an alternative to the royal mint.
But sadly it's just a modern mint (dime a dozen now) that is playing on the name and history.
No CGT products. Bars are nice, but really shouldn't be more than £60 each.

Just had a look at the website where this is listed. £74.70. It has sold out, so I guess there is interest…unless that is part of the marketing. Speaking of which, the marketing does not feel accurate. The gold bar is made in Germany. What is the connect with Oxford Mint if the item is made by Liepziger Edelmetallverarbeitung?

As I said, the bar is nice but pretty derivative in design (my opinion).
Good luck with the product, I hope it sells well for you

Yourself and BYB cover different niches. BYB is not a bullion dealer, he's an intermediary and YouTuber, it's natural you have different POVs
BYB doesn't have to concern himself with what is popular or the margins of particular items, he gets paid the same regardless. He's a commentator and can say whatever he wants. Like all commentators sometimes we agree with their opinions and sometimes we don't
IMHO the comments on the Oxford mint are fair and didn't all come from BYB:
    1) Made in Germany
    2) Rips off Royal Mint
    3) Not CGT-exempt
Do I still like the Oxford mint stuff? Sure, but competition is extreme in the world of fractional gold
It would be a nice marketing trick to get the channel with the highest subscriber count in UK bullion to cover your product release, I like it, Machiavellian 👍

Don't bet on just gold, or stocks alone. 1980 to 1999 and the price of gold halved in nominal terms (more in inflation adjusted terms). 50/50 stock/gold yearly rebalanced saw you end with more than 6 times more ounces  of gold in your safe without having added a single additional penny. Over other periods it swings the other way around, fewer ounces of gold held, more stock share certificates held (such as across the 2000's).
