    Nope, it is exactly the correct thread!
    We are debating here if this specific coin should be kept or recycled.
    Look severely worn and damaged, I doubt it will pass the test...

    I don't think it have the minimal weight of 122.5 grains....

    As a reminder of our good and also beloved D - Mark, the Bundesbank issued this beautiful gold piece in 2001 in an edition of 1 million pieces. There are 5 mints in Germany, A=Berlin, D=Munich, F=Stuttgart, G=Karlsruhe and J stands for Hamburg. Here I present the mint A for Berlin. These coins are each made of 999 gold and have a weight of 12g. The price per coin was 250 DM at that time. Today, such a gold piece is easily worth around 700 to 800 euros.
    So you should have bought earlier, but I wasn't ready then. Maxe wishes you all a pleasant day.
    The complete series with all mints has been in my possession for a long time, so I did not receive it today, I cheated, please forgive me. 🥂

    I have clear investment goals to save for 5 ounces of gold in August, hence I bought the following over the last 2 weeks:

     @Upsidedown (ASE, Libertad, Maple)
     @Webster (Gilded Libertad, ASEs)
    @Panda6Pack (Germania Golden Eagles) (I couldn't open the capsules so you'll have to deal with Charlie's magazine shots)
    @AaaGee (2022 Kook)

    I got some of these today too, haven't had a chance to take any out of the capsule for a proper look. Nice pictures, they almost look too nice like you stole them from a bullion dealer website. I know you took these yourself and you're a camera guy. I'll be back later, probably, to post some pleb pics for comparison 😂

    Finally acquired a British Trade Dollar for my British Imperial / Colonial collection. They were issued to facilitate British trade in Asia hence the Eastern stylings. Satisfying feeling when you get your hands on a coin you've long desired! This one is a 1910 Bombay mint example. I plan to get more of these though - either one for each of the decades they were minted (1890s-1930s) or one for each monarch they were minted under (Victoria, Edward VII, George V).

    Afternoon,
    I've been visiting this site for about 2 years; but started collecting precious metals in 2011.
    I got back into precious metals recently as I started a YouTube channel that covers Precious Metals, UK Coins & World Coins:
    https://www.youtube.com/@bullion-finance/videos
    It's nice to find like minded people as most of my friends & family think my hobby is strange.
    Regards,

    Welcome my friend!
    If you're trying to stack as much weight as possible at the lowest cost per ounce you need to buy large bars, 100g minimum, preferably 1kg
    It's nice to have a few of those in your stack but if you're planning on growing your stack to a large amount over many years, you'd be well advised to prioritise legal tender coins. In the UK that means silver Britannias and anything produced by the Royal Mint that has a face value (£2, £5, etc). If the price of silver mooned and you sold bars, if you made > £3,000 profit (from FY 2024/25), those profits would be subject to CGT (Capital Gains Tax). If you're talking about 20 years from now CGT could be a major issue
    If you buy legal tender coins like Britannias they are CGT-free, meaning you can stack and sell (up to £85,000 per year) as a private individual with zero taxes on profits (or VAT concerns). The demand for coins is higher than bars - coins are easier to sell when the time comes
    You will find Britannias priced very competitively on TSF. Lately they are as low as £22.80/oz although a more common price is £23.50-24.50/oz. That's cheaper per ounce than everything except for 1kg bars and some 100g bars depending on the seller, type of bar and quantity
    Whatever you decide to stack, please buy your silver on TSF where prices are lower. It might be an idea to save up and buy as many as possible (preferably a tube of 25, roughly £600 delivered) in one go to save on postage costs and give yourself the best possible value per ounce
    You'll also find great deals here on things like Krugerrands, Maples, Eagles, Kangaroos, all sorts of coins. Ideally the majority of your stack should be in UK legal tender coins but from personal experience I know that's easier said than done 😂
    My TL:DR advice is start with Britannias then add whatever coins, bars, rounds and poured silver that give you the most joy to own.
    Gold is also awesome. Using the budget you gave perhaps you might buy £400 worth of silver for 8 months of the year and £400 worth of gold the other 4 months. There are many on this forum who would advise you to run the inverse of that, i.e. buy gold 8 months a year and silver 4 months

    A very valid question because since the brexit importing anything from Britain is very expensive.
    So, from which country are you shipping?
