  1. Hi, what is the length of the chain and the width of its links please?
  2. That only ever happened to me once. I got a nice watch but ... it was bought with the money I gave her because she didn't work 🤦‍♂️
  3. Glad you got the chance early to avoid this type of abusive relationship. I wish I had known earlier.
  4. This is an abusive relationship. Call it what it is.
  5. The saying "Happy wife, happy life" is incorrect. It should be "No wife, happy life" IMHO. If how you spend YOUR money is determined by how much it might affect your day to day relationship with someone then I strongly suggest you reconsider that relationship or, alternatively, reconsider how open you are with that person about you spending habits. The latter approach is particularly useful, I hear, for when such controlling and abusive relationships break down 😉
  6. Agreed, I'm still happy with it 🙂 The portrait of the Queen is one of the better ones I think. Apparently it is the last of a sequence of 4 for the 4 countries of the union and is for England as it carries the 3 lions.
  7. Yep, it's nice although on closer inspection with a loupe there is clear evidence of surface scratching caused by handling 🫤 You can see some on this macro photo which was taken with the capsule top off ...
  8. Picked this up today from an antiques centre. I've little knowledge about such things but after googling I figured that £27 wasn't a bad price as the box, coa capsule and coin all seem perfect though I have only checked the coin by zooming my phone camera and not used a loupe yet.
  9. Before the internet records would be kept in localised computer systems with no or limited network connections ... or perhaps in paper-based storage systems (filing cabinets). The "internet" is designed to be resilient to attack and, contrary to what most people today understand, is not the same thing as the "World Wide Web" which is a layer that runs on top of the "internet" and is what most people interact with. I work in IT and in business it is constantly regarded as a "cost centre" when in reality it is saving money versus the alternative of not using modern IT which is so bloody annoying.
  10. Not sure about good enough to eat, but are they easy to swallow in a pinch? 😂
  11. The most incredible part of this thread is that some people still watch the BBC 😂
  12. Surely they could implement a camera which photographs each coin and software which compares it against a standard image and flags any with issues? This is not rocket science.
  13. For whatever reason, programmable currency MUST fail for the sake of human freedom.
  14. Are the Distance Selling Regulations applicable to this? https://www.gov.uk/online-and-distance-selling-for-businesses
  15. Surely the point here is to employ someone controllable to help implement what will be the ultimate control of the ordinary people? Why spend alot on someone clever enough to rebel against what they are being asked to do ... that might attract candidates who could have some moral reservations.
  16. Tbh that sounds like a good deal lol. Can you think of a way to skew the results based upon them accidentally having a large proportion of gold shipments? or would that be illegal?
  17. Why do people still think that shared Facebook links are accessible by everyone? It really beggars belief. Why are intelligent people even still using Facebook?
  18. How does that work? Is it a fixed price per package? How are these people not already serving at His Majesty's pleasure for such blatant mail theft?
  19. I am currently re-watching the John Wick saga because it is currently free on Amazon Prime. So my mind went to thinking about the gold coins used as currency among the underworld and I started googling ... and found this: https://www.thisiswhyimbroke.com/uk/john-wick-gold-coins/ Interesting BUT ... scroll down and have a look at the "You may also enjoy throwing your hard earned cash away on..." below. It had me in fits and seems like there is something for every taste and budget ... literally! 😂
  20. https://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2015-06-24/royal-mail-delivery-van-is-destroyed-by-fire/ "Fortunately, the driver was not hurt, and no mail inside the van was damaged. "The mail was recovered from the van and returned to our office for processing as usual."
  21. I generally agree on principle. However, when I recently visited my local post office around 5:20pm after finishing work at 5pm only to be treated like a nutter expecting them to still be open after 5pm ... they are really not doing themselves any favours. Then when I visited the next day in my lunchbreak and they tried to upsell me from Signed For (recommended by Passport Office) to SD for an item (old passport for renewal which the counter staff correctly guessed) that was literally going about 3 miles as the crow flies (but I couldn't deliver by hand as it was a PO Box address which did not exist on the map but must be a nearby non-descript building) and then argued with me when I pointed this out ... they really are NOT doing themselves any favours.
  22. You can buy postage online now and even get them to collect parcels from you. https://send.royalmail.com/
  23. At least in portrait form like this he is able to keep eye contact ... unlike during his Christmas speech!
