I have a few bullion coins from the RM,old ones, in fancy envelopes …I think gold needs to go to Mars let alone the moon  before I’ll recoup the premium

    Define mistake.
Some people would say that if you don't buy at the rock bottom of a market, it's a mistake.
Others say that if you don't realise the most possible profit and sell at the top, it's a mistake.
And others say that if you buy something of beauty and stick it in a box for 20 years where no one can see it, it's a mistake.
    I've done all of them.

Bought every 2oz Silver Gothic Crown Quartered Arms and Portrait I could get my hands on, sent them all for grading... I was gonna be rich, rich I tells ya!

It's not necessarily a mistake.... You could have bought it from somewhere selling dodgy gold and ended up with next to nothing of value and that might have put you off physical metals entirely for eg....

I bought a 1oz 2011 Brit.. in 2011. Completely random purchase. Paid £800 and felt disgusted with myself for wasting money. Put it in a draw and forgot about it.
Didn't buy anything else until 2020 when I realised it had nearly doubled in price and my bank savings were doing absolutely bugger all. So yeah, if only I'd been watching the price more closely, I'd have probably gotten in sooner.

The gold will do well in years to come but not any time soon. Hold for the long term you should be good. The design is still stunning. just a very bad trading environment now, it's the perfect storm of everything currently being depressed and miserable and not selling
Luxury watch market is the same, on its arse
It's only when you cash in/ or NEED/forced to cash in selling your bits in value is relative

Buying beasts from dealers, not many fortunately😅
Keep it simple. Bullion brits/fractionals and sovs.
When gold shoots to da moon no one is paying those premiums.

    Should have started sooner
Shouldn’t have purchased my first bullion from the Royal Mint
Should have put a little less into gold and a little more into investments
But let’s be honest, these are problems others would bloody love to have 👍🏼

Buying things I don’t really want, or need, but they look good until the Postie delivers it.
Thinking RMs 50/50% Quality control will improve.
    Flip Flopping adventure though.

Regardless of water level who's going to buy Sandbags over Sovereigns? maybe ok to trade a Silver Krug for a pair of cheap gum boots 😅

I'd say many of us could say the same, but on the bright side..a large percentage ( spot price dependant) is safe and can be turned back into cash, if the leak becomes a flood 😆

I regret that I hadn't forced the issue with my ex and started taking a haircut off the top and saving it sooner.  Still cleaning up the mess after that.

bought more gold when I was buying it for £700 an once.
Or got it to buying gold in 2000 when I started earning money approx £200 an once then.
But to be honest im done buying from the royal mint. Never again
Its all a learning curve and I'm sure we all made errors that lost us money

Have no regrets as such, saves me from admitting I can be an idiot quite often.
The only thing I'd change if I had the opportunity, I'd of gotten into gold sooner.

I’ve often seen mention of references to past mistakes and regrets and wondered if anyone would share their experiences?  I am still new to collecting and certainly messed up with buying from the RM and continue to do so😂
who knows it may be cathartic to share or not,  just wondered ?
