  1. So...just saw this on Facebook. The mint were posting about the launch of the dragon and were asked about the bullion Panther. The representative said there will not be one, when asked to clarify they confirmed no bullion Panther. This surely must be a mistake, who on earth would think that's a good idea? If, as I assume, it's a mistake then who the hell handles their social media advertising? That's a big **** up
  2. I know but I've not bought much recently and this is a nice big chunk that might just tip me over the kg of gold mark, need to add it up. Anyway, deals done, all paid and happy with the price. So much for trying to get cash together and not buying gold for a while...that plan never works out does it?
  3. I had one before and sold it...kind of regretted it as it was nice to have a piece I didn't mind handling. I do remember it being a bugger to sell though so this one at basically spot works for me.
  4. I must confess to being guilty of this at times however I just see it as starting a negotiation, as a buyer I'll always look to start low and we can work our way up. As a seller I never take offence to a low offer, it's not a big deal to say no or make a counter. My bugbear is people making low offers publicly, not sure why that just seems wrong. At the moment pricing is weird too, you'll see someone offer a jubillee or memorial sov at 385 and the next person wants 400. I usually assume that they do this to give room to negotiate down the way.
  5. I liked the original bar they did of this, not sure about this as a concept though. May just be the picture quality but the una looks like a male wizard rather than a regal queen.
  6. And it's back to r/cryptocurrecy for you.
  7. It's just that you read this thread and the amount of people going on about 'buying the dip', ruing missing buying at 20quid an ounce less etc. I do just feel people are being a bit overdramatic really.
  8. I mean who hear is really buying enough that 5 or 10 quid on a soverign either way makes much of a difference?
  9. For sure. I don't think they are particularly investment worthy right now but I've not seen any fakes as yet so if nothing else I see these as a safe buy at least. End of the day I'm buying as a Bullion soverign and if it never gains a premium then no worries, if it does then it's a no lose bet.
  10. These were a mix of jubilee, memorial and coronation. Maybe there is something I don't get but I see these as future classics and if i can buy these for the same price as a random scrap value coin I can't see any reason not to. Don't get me wrong I don't think they will double their money or anything but we are in a time where there are coins I think future collectors will be jizzing their pants over and people are letting it pass them by. I don't get why anyone looking for soverigns would pass these up I'd only because people can't be arsed with the effort to make fakes
  11. Both wrong, Spanish morcilla trumps all others. Err just to keep it on topic I bought some sovs today for 385 which I think was very reasonable.
  12. Per pcgs "there are 4 direct retailers of these coins, that the two largest have committed to donating between 6% and 12% of the gross sales price to the fireman/victims". I think it's fair to say that people made a lot of money from these and I doubt pcgs did the grading free out of patriotic duty or respect for the victims, i also dont think resellers are doing anything but trousering the profit. Im not a communist and dont mind people making money but plastering the flag on this, donating an insignificant portion of the profits and pretending this is some patriotic statement is hypocrital and morrally wrong. if everything was done for free and these were a genuine fundraiser I think that would have been a fantastic thing and a great opportunity to really help people but they are just not that. I agree that we should learn from he past and not forget history however I'm not sure it's really necessary to do it this way. I doubt it would go down well if pcgs were to verify gold teeth found in the aftermath of the holocaust, stick a star of David on the label and donate 6% to a survivors charity and I dont really see this as much different. Sadly I'm sure there are plenty who would actually do this if they thought they could get away with it and I'm equally sure there would be buyers. I don't mean this as a dig at buyers or collectors (of the wtc coins not the teeth, if you want those you should be on a register somewhere), I can see why they would want these as interesting pieces for the collection. My issue is with people profiteering from what happened. I put this up there with those people making keyring etc. from russian tanks in Ukraine and selling them to people who think somehow they are helping or supporting Ukraine whilst being blind to the fact people died to get your silly trinket.
  13. Considering how patriotic the average American is you would think profiteering from 9/11 would be a lynching offence, shameless really. Given there's no numismatic value to the coins I'd put this up there with someone trying to sell a singed fiver from Greenfell for a profit.
  14. I've noticed prices sneaking up on these, I think they are starting to be appreciated now and may well end up being a very desirable collection...at least I hope so seeing as I'm collecting them.
  15. The petition crown was a weird release because on the secondary market you know nobody's buying those big golds unless they are pr70 however slabbing it defeats the actual point of the coin and the very cool mint presentation box. I do think the great engravers is done from a flipping/profit side which some may see as a good thing that they will go to true collectors. However the flip side is will true collectors want a reproduction of something they can actually get? Una and the lion was unobtainable unless your pronouns were sheik/your highness so a reproduction made sense however as we get in to coins like gothic crown etc. If you can afford the big gold ones you can afford an original so it removes that raison d'etre.
  16. I'll take the jubilees, coronation and memorial please
  17. Oh it's an iconic design I agree and if they had stopped using it in years past I'd have said there's an argument it should have been the first great engraver coin. I just can't get past the fact that to all intents and purposes it's just a modern coin I can still buy
  18. 420 from me...Well someone had to!
  19. It's a gamble thats for sure. I honestly don't get it. The other great engravers made sense to me as they are tributes to classic coins you rarely see and i loved the first few. But if I want this design I can just buy a soverign
  20. Oh I do agree with that, your right. However the point was that....actually I've had a really busy day and I can't even remember what the point was...doubt it mattered that much 😅
  21. Well you could buy a one bedroom house rather than 2 so I think the point stands.
