  1. Several new bullion coins silently launched on the RM website today: 2022 1oz Queen's Beasts Completer in platinum! https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/platinum-coins/the-queens-beasts-2022-1oz-platinum-bullion-coin/ 2022 1oz Platinum Britannia (the first to have the new security features, as the 2021 one didn't) https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/platinum-coins/britannia-2022-1-oz-platinum-bullion-coin/ 2022 1oz Platinum Britannia in blister https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/platinum-coins/britannia-2022-1-oz-platinum-bullion-coin-in-blister/ 2022 1/10oz Platinum Britannia in blister https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/platinum-coins/britannia-2022-tenth-oz-platinum-bullion-coin-in-blister/ 2022 10oz Queen's Beasts Completer in silver https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/silver-coins/the-queens-beasts-2022-10oz-silver-bullion-coin/
  2. Plenty of new bullion releases this morning! Amidst the silver, I thought this one would tickle a few fancies... 10oz QB completer!
  3. Well I wasn't expecting that, but here it is! https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/platinum-coins/the-queens-beasts-2022-1oz-platinum-bullion-coin/
  4. Yes. It seems like wasted space if the sovereign boxes don't also have a little hidey-hole.
  5. It's the premium proof set. Glad I paid the extra for the pimpy box and the thing at the top-right!
  6. Nice! It does seem expensive, but I was really impressed by the quality. They must have listened to my comments yesterday and decided to put them on the website this morning The logo on the lid is one of the things that sets it apart from others imho
  7. The boxes are also available on their own. £49.99! https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/coin-accessories/19-coin-sovereign-collection-case/ https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/coin-accessories/10-coin-sovereign-collection-case/ https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/coin-accessories/10-coin-britannia-collection-case/
  8. The sovereign capsules sold on the bullion section of the website are identical to the ones in the 2022 proof sets, so I expect so.
  9. More new platinum in stock, including the 2022 Britannia, tubes of tenths - and blister packs for the first time I think? Notably, the Britannias now include the security features that were not present on the 2021 coins.
  10. Topically, if anyone else like me really likes the box that the premium proof set comes in, it looks like the same box is now available as a collection case for gold bullion brits and sovereigns: https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/gold-coins/10-coin-britannia-collection-case--1-coin/ https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/gold-coins/19-coin-sovereign-collection-case--1-coin/ https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/gold-coins/10-coin-sovereign-collection-case--1-coin/
  11. I remember reading something very similar in the early 90s, but it was in a camcorder manual and to do with protecting the electronics and tape head from moisture But metal coins would be in the same boat. If they're being transported in very cold weather, especially if they are sent back to the depot for redelivery or stored there a couple of nights over a weekend, they could go through a few temperate changes that would make airborne moisture cling to them whenever they are moved somewhere warmer (even in packaging - it's not airtight). Quite whether that would be enough to cause any problems is another question.
  12. I've just been lucky enough to receive the following annual sets and had a quick look at them already: 2022 premium proof coin set 2022 silver proof coin set 2022 silver piedfort commemorative coin set These are my first annual sets, and I bought them mainly for that reason - I have never seen one in the flesh before, let alone all the different types. They are all impressive, but to be honest, I think I prefer the non-silver premium proof set! Not only is it cheaper and more readily available, but the coins look just fine to me and it also includes the 2022 medal thing that isn't included in the silver sets. The wooden box is also a hell of a lot nicer and doesn't attract fingerprints like the black glossy fingerprint magnets that the silver sets come in. Also no need to worry about tarnishing and milkspots after a couple of years I guess I recommend getting the premium proof set if you haven't already. I'm already wondering why I bought the silver ones as well - I think it was partly because they were available and had lower edition limits and I got carried away!
  13. Is the mintage of everything in the silver piedfort proof set about 370? And is the mintage of the regular platinum jubilee 50p in the silver proof set also 550?
  14. I was wondering just the other day whether this is the worst time of year to buy silver coins online. They're likely to sit in extremely cold vans or warehouses overnight during the delivery process, which could attract condensation directly onto the coins when they are moved into a warmer environment, even if they are not taken out of their capsules (they're not airtight and they will already contain some air anyway). Oh well, mine have just arrived so I'll find out if mine are the same soon!
  15. Conversely, I'm feeling very foolish as I am an existing customer that noticed these prices before even reading the posts on this thread, but I still didn't order one. D'oh! I did, however, pre-order some quarter sovereigns, as that's what I was more interested in. The prices on those looked good and still do at the moment.
  16. I got an email from them this morning (Sunday) to say that the 2022 sovereigns are now available to pre-order "at current prices", so I see no reason to assume it's a mistake that will lead to cancellations.
  17. Keep some tarnish paper or silverbrite in the box and replace it every few years and they might fare better than the rest.
  18. The RM is now selling a platinum bullion coin again - the first that's been available for quite a while! https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/platinum-coins/the-queens-beasts-2022-white-greyhound-of-richmond-1oz-platinum-bullion-coin/
  19. As everyone's in a Platinum Jubilee mood, I thought it would be worth pointing out that the platinum 1oz QB Greyhound is back in stock! https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-coins/platinum-coins/the-queens-beasts-2022-white-greyhound-of-richmond-1oz-platinum-bullion-coin/
  20. £200 for the two-coin silver set here https://www.westminstercollection.com/p-UDT2/UK-2022-Platinum-Jubilee-Silver-Proof-50p-Pair.aspx
  21. That's insane! How do you store/display/worship them?
  22. Bullion by Post is now taking pre-orders for the 2022 Sovereign. Currently £333 with free delivery seems on par with, if not slightly cheaper than, the usual suspects.
  23. Don't forget to season it!
  24. It's not worth the hassle - for either party! Although I suspect if someone were to abuse it, it could be the quickest way of them finding out.
