I did find it curious that the states mintage of the 2oz silver proof is 1,000.

Typically, the reverse proofs have had a smaller mintage than the regular proofs.

The 1oz gold proof was 300 so it makes sense the 1oz gold reverse proof is 200.

The 2oz silver proof was 1,000 and I’d have expected the reverse to have a smaller mintage.

the 1oz proof gold mintage is 685 mate

The time line,  we had the Queen's platinum jubilee for the longest reigning monarch .  Fact none of us or even your great grandchildren children are highly unlikely to ever see a British monarch reign longer than QEII.

The memorial sovereign is fitting tribute and a stunner of a design, it's one or if not the best looking reverse on a proof sovereign, and has the first portrait of a new monarch. Any collector will always want to have the first of a new monarch in their collection....if they can afford it in the future.

The coronation sovereign,  is simply completes  holy trinity of these 3 sets, back to the George and the dragon and we have a coronation crowned portrait (I don't recall any other crowned coronation portrait on a modern sovereign)

There has been no other time in history sovereign collectors have had this run of Jubilee, memorial and coronation, some collectors would have done a deal with the devil to be alive in this period of time, and not forgetting these sets are far more affordable and attainable for us the masses than recent ones  of 1911, 1937, etc  no way were were normal working people able to afford long sovereign sets.    Here we are able to afford them with a few months wages at a far lower mintage than pervious generations who could not in their wildest dreams be able to afford them ever.

If you don't want one or can't afford them thats no crime no one will hold that against you.    If you are a collector have the funds or can budget a few months wages to have a set of these then why not, what else are you going to spend your money on?.......I bet we have all paid more for gym membership that we never used over the years then the price of a 5 set.

Just received my two 2oz sets, the presentation is beautifully put together, however seems to be a issue with one of the quartered arms,

I have the special edition spiral lettering and it cost the same for the privilege, I must admit it is central about half way round so that's a bonus.

The other is the same coin with the finning that has been discussed, however this is exactly opposite the joint,

so it would seem this issue is with the ring not been properly seated.

The other quarter shows the same with regards to finning however to a lesser degree , however has a small dent.

    Both the Effigies are perfect.

I also noticed that the orientation of the lettering, on each is different, with the start of the lettering at different points around  both Effigy and Quartered.

Hi mate. You wrote “I have the special edition spiral lettering and it cost the same for the privilege”, if i am reading this right it means there is a special edition to the coin? I am only aware of the coins that were shown on the RM website..

  4. In my opinion, Royal Mint killed this series with GC. Two coins sets with Large mintage and then plain edge variant… heavy price increases on top of all that.

Even with v.low mintages, again a two set which will be around £11k, i can not see why someone will buy this (unless multimillionaire collector who buys everything).

i’d rather save my money for the new proof special reverse sovereign and perhaps the coronation set.
