1/4 oz 2013 S.S. Gairsoppa Britannia Silver Coin.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I bought some 1/4 oz 2013 S.S. Gairsoppa Britannia Silver Coins. I like the history behind them and the edge lettering.

Could you please let me know if there is any reference from the Royal Mint or if there is any book which mention the history of these coins and the mintage number for both years 2013 and 2014?

Some of these coins were issued in a presentation pack, I'm not sure whether some or all of these packs contained a DVD regarding the shipwreck.

I've recently picked up one of the 2015 10oz bars.

Been reading lots about the whole story and fascinated by it all.

This set is also made from Gairsoppa silver, its very nice, I have one, but I wouldn't pay £450 for it!

Ooh, that is nice! I have a similar one of Their Finest Hour.

£450 is bit of a stretch though! 🤣

Any UK book version equivalent to the annual US Red Book?

I need a UK book which list the mintage of the Royal Mint coins.

I think the Royal Mint has been quite coy about mintages about somethings (sovereigns in particular) for the past few years.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.
