Coins will feature creatures including the red squirrel and the hazel dormouse
They will range from 1p to £2 pieces and will soon appear in people’s change

King Charles¿ love of conservation and the environment have been immortalised in eight new coins (pictured) unveiled by the Royal Mint which feature animals, flora and fauna that can be found in the UK

I'm alright, Jack, Keep your hands off of my stack

I see the RM website states that "Each reverse design also features an intricate pattern based on His Majesty’s cypher, created especially for these coins – as well as a privy mark that is exclusive to this set."

Does that mean ordinary 2023 definitive coins with this new design won't have the special privy mark, or that in future years there won't be one?

The cypher will be on. The term definitive in this case means that these are the coins as is that will be put into production

I've read further on the FAQ page of this issue, and it's clear that the privy mark only applies to the 2023 definitive issue.

Went to the mint this morning to try and get some.

They don't have any in the shop for sale, really disappointing but usual royal mint. Release a coin, but have none to sell. All pre order.

The bunc coins look quite busy in the left side. The circulation coins will be the same.

The proof coins look a lot better but pretty much guaranteed they will be toned in the first year of purchase.

I mentioned this morning while on the tour about the "bird" in the kings ear.

The tour guide thinks the portrait designer Martin Jennings did it on purpose. As the sign of the kings love for nature. He listens to the birds and the birds listen to him.

Something like that. 😅

Hi all,

Has anyone received a BU set yet ? I bought mine at same time as the final QE2 set which came straight away. The RM site then gets confused as to whether they have sent my order depending on how I check.

RM been too busy sending out spot gold bars and free 50p s ? 😃

I haven't received any of mine yet.

I actually ordered a day after release from the Royal Mint gift shop itself.

I've phoned already and the woman at the shop still managed to mess my order up!

I'll be giving them a phone again to chase up these sets (one for a Christmas present) and my gold bars (one for a birthday present).

Unbelievable how long they keep your money for before sending things out.

I very much doubt they will have any new commemorative or definitive 2024 coins ready at the start of the year. Which they should do!

I was at the royal mint the first day they opened this year and there were no new coins to purchase from the shop. Then down when they released the new definitive coins and couldn't purchase them either. 😅 Crazy way to run a business in my opinion.

I dithered over buying a BU set from the mint and decided not to. Then bought elsewhere for the same price and received within two days of ordering 🤔

Interesting. That must mean that they had enough to send out to dealers but not direct customers. Thanks RM ...

Glad that I found this place (via @BackyardBullion youtube) instead. Good people, fun experience, fair dealings.

They are a bit rubbish. Wish I had joined the 5g / 50p gang now 😗
