You would have bits of silver with junk silver of your own country - there are those who claim people do not recognise the old pre-1946 coinage. Well some won't.

You have to decide if people will barter with silver. i used to think this but i am less sure these days. i still have boxes of old UK coinage but i am not sure i will be haggling for goods with them. You also need to ask yourself if folk won't want to take an old UK 50% or Sterling coin would they want to take a tiny bit of snap off silver when they will virtually certainly not recognise it and not trust it.

Right, yh I was looking at the same item after coming across it via youtube. I like the idea you can clip off 1g but as you said there is a hefty premium. I too am after some low weight silver but the closest thing I could find was silver shot and the scottsdale 5g bars (again a bit of a premium on the Scottsdale 5g bars).

Buy a 100 gm flat pure silver sheet and square it off into 1x1 pieces and you have the same thing at half the price. You can but these sheets from bullion dealers or Arts and craft suppliers that supply to the jewellery market.

Nearly 3x spot at almost £1 a gram!  That's one hell of a premium!!  Buy some cheap milk spotted coins instead and cut them in to chunks.  A 1toz coin at £15 only works out at about 48p a gram so you'd have twice as much silver to barter with (although I still think cigarettes would be a far better currency in a real SHTF scenario).

I'm sad now

Me too! Why?

Someone could have bought that JM bar and advertised it on here as rare and asked a very high premium.

What a waste.

High premium for a bar?  I thought bars where just bullion.  What is special about a JM bar?

There are plenty of vintage bars that some collectors will pay hefty premiums for.  Check out this one for example, 1kg sold for nearly £900...

I bought two of these Valcambi 100x1g silver bars today - hence me finding this page - looking for information on them!

They are currently on Ebay around the 65 mark, but that's the US and you'd need to pay import and postage etc. The UK ones are still selling around the 90-100 mark. Crazy, really. I bought because I have liked them for a while and the price of silver has hiked from 12 in mid June (when I started keeping a record) to 14 today, why not! I paid a premium but a lot, lot less than they are selling for on Ebay.

Bought one of these last year and sold it off as indavidual pieces at £2.50 a Gram. Sold the whole bar in just over 2 weeks. Was a £1 sellers fee so was quids in. May look to do it again at some point 😁

People were paying you 2.50 for a single gram of silver? Mind. Blown.

A.
