Wow I'm really surprised how low the prices are on some of these :o

I have an 1888 that was handed down to me as a family heirloom. £220 for such a nice coin with so much history behind it? Amazing.

A sold price Sept 2017...........

You forgot 17% buyer's premium.

205 x 1.17 = £239.85

And the poor seller only got £184.50 after fees.

This is why auction houses are the worst possible place to sell everyday coins.

If you look at clems post you’ll see a similar price with BP, still unconvinced?

I’m not unconvinced about anything.  I was just pointing out that the buyer in your example would have paid more than the £205 hammer price.

If selling a bog standard Sovereign you might find one for £200+ but as previously said, add Auction house commission of say 20% (inc VAT) and you are up to £240+.
At that price you may as well buy Bullion unless you come across a nice rarity.

Like I said before I've been getting mine on here for good price

Yes, but not £200 surely?  Although the way gold price is going at the moment it won't be long until £200 is in reach!
