  1. A single random date brit. Just to take the itch away... Rather delighted to get a spotless 2014. Really like the plain field ones. Less is more... @paulmerton have you had any joy with that awful 2014 you were sold? Mine was from Atkinsons.
  2. I'm in. Missed this last year - delighted to be in this time around. So I'll offer these. An ounce and a half of Australia's finest. Lovely things, great shape in OM capsules. 2012 S2 lunar dragons. Will also make a £10 donation to the recipients non religious or political charity of choice.
  3. Very nice. Does the capsule close properly, or is there supposed to be a gap at between the 2 sections?
  4. Silver pill. Then get a wreath crown. It's on my imminent to do list. I've slightly altered the plan though and have about half of the .500 half crowns. I like the .500 coins, nice honest lumps, the last of their type, readily available at decent prices (mostly...)
  5. Great reply, cheers. Yes its the silver blister packs I was asking about. Hope they get round to making/releasing them, they are really nice. Thanks again.
  6. Does anyone know if this series has been abandoned? Coins from 2019 & 2020, but no 2021 as far as I know. I quite liked these, was one of the few series I planned to collect.
  7. Another few for my .500 half crown date run. Expanding on what was initially intended to only be a George 6th silver run. And the full 'collection' so far. All decent examples except for the 1921 which was too cheap to refuse. Also bought this absolute left fielder on an absolute whim. Last one is for scale next to a 20p. Its a fair old lump of coin. As far as I can tell its a Chinese Eastern Branch Board of Revenue 50 cash. Circa 1853/54, Quin Dynasty (Xian Feng). I believe it is brass. I would be more than happy to have any of this confirmed or corrected if there are any experts here on the forum.
  8. The restoration is indeed a pretty deep rabbit hole.
  9. Stunner, nice box too. More than happy to help.
  10. Oh well, if its started then I might as well go with it! I already have a few rocking horses - love the design. Will get a Coronation crown soon probably. The wreath crowns however... maybe later!!! Might do the florins first!
  11. I am in the very early stages of putting together a George 6th silver coinage collection. Not the 1947 onwards stuff though, just the last circulating silver, no real reason for it, just seemed like a good idea that wouldn't be particularly difficult or expensive. That's my sort of project! Anyway, just wanted to check if there are any crowns other than the 1937 coronation and the 1951 festival (was there silver version?) that I don't know about. Also if maybe there are any others from this time that are less well known or obscure that I should look for. Many thanks. Just a thought... is this how it starts? I used to just be happy with shiny new silver, the Brits and Kooks and Libs etc, now I'm looking at George 6th collections. Is this a 'gateway' project? What's next? What will become of me? Can I afford it? Will my relationships suffer? Should I stop while I still can...
  12. Lucky little girl, what an amazing gift. For the sake of a tenner definitely get a good one, if you're spending almost £900 on new silver it should be perfect. Obviously it is not my place to advise you how to spend your money, but I would echo the sentiments of @Pete above. A nice shiny kilo bar she could play with until the cows come home and it will still be a kilo of bullion if or when she needs it. My personal preference would be the upcoming proof sovereign if you are looking for a special gift with potential to turn a decent profit. Let us know what you decide. Good luck.
  13. The 3rd installment of Perth S3 lunar, in 1/2, 1, 2oz. And the full series so far. Being Perth, the others are still as clean and spotless as the ones that fell through my letterbox this morning... pay attention Royal Mint! Only 9 more years to go!
  14. Just to add handling old silver such as pre decimal with bare hands is magic!
  15. I use blue nitrile gloves, but only for new/shiny/valuable stuff that I want to keep that way.
  16. A pretty eclectic handful arrived over the last few days... My niece turns 18 soon, so thought this 2003 proof set would be nice. Happily it contains the suffrage 50p. All in perfect shape. Thought about a silver set, but figured an 18 year old would sooner have the cash - CuNi it is! And for me some krugs towards a tube, a 2oz stacker - which is as nice as I hoped, and a partial date run of WW2 half crowns in pretty much AU condition. If anyone has a nice 40/41 please give me a shout. That will likely be me until the scramble for the next engraver. Hopefully 3rd time lucky... @Bobthebulge
  17. Atkinsons have a few Buffalo's and a 50 peso for sale. Don't think they'll last long.

    Excited

Every purchase is exciting. If it stops being exciting then I'll stop buying it. Doesn't matter if its 5 quid or 500 quids worth, it's just the same. You choose it, buy it, wait for it and then enjoy it. I'm expecting a 2oz Scottsdale stacker today - its not fancy or special, but I've wanted one for ages and it's coming today - I'm excited...😁
  19. Im no expert, but id say you did OK. You've traded wow factor for liquidity, but i must say i would have kept one of them! If you're happy then it's a good deal.
  20. On a macro level, this makes perfect sense. However on a silver per sovereign level, the price could be easily absorbed. I haven't done the sums, but if it wouldn't amount to more than a penny or two per coin. An extra fiver per sovereign would represent even more healthy profit for the RM and I expect we would all happily pay it. You could argue that RM has been missing a trick. @LawrenceChard could be on to something...
