  1. I don’t know! I hope so because I have contacted him to ask for payment details. I think he hasn’t checked in since he posted the advert!!
  2. Afternoon! Do you have any tubes left, please?
  3. I would be overjoyed to discuss this with you. Shout if you need help. A FOIA request is fairly straightforward. You just have to be careful to make the requests specific and try to avoid falling into the trap of requesting something that they will just say is commercially sensitive or too expensive to respond to. The exemptions under the DPA are clear so also easy to tackle in advance.
  4. Don’t forget that the RM is owned by the Treasury! Maybe you should be approaching the Chancellor as ultimately he is in charge. Pretty significant profits suggest that they are selling their tat at inflamed prices without any worries/concern: https://www.royalmint.com/aboutus/press-centre/the-royal-mint-announce-17.7million-operating-profit-as-it-forges-new-future-in-sustainable-precious-metals/#:~:text=sustainable precious metals-,The Royal Mint Announce £17.7million Operating Profit as,future in sustainable precious metals&text=Strong demand for precious metals, ending 31st March 2023.
  5. Thats crazy. Absolutely batsh*t crazy. I feel so sorry for people who fall for this.
  6. Can I please take: 2018 1/20oz Britannia £100 2018 1/40oz Britannia £50
  7. I have a couple of halves that I bought recently. Would be overjoyed to sell to you at the price I paid, if you want? Help a fellow forum stacker! I have the 1/2oz Charles or Lilibet Britannia. PM if interested.
  8. What is left - serious question. Will likely take what is left if you can please confirm with pictures and prices via PM. Cheers, James! Andrew.
  9. Translation: FORMAL STATEMENT BY THE ROYAL MINT STARTS Firstly, we would like to thank you for forcing these issues to our unwanted attention. We understand you have concerns and we welcome the opportunity to ignore them. The Royal Mint strives to provide customers with low premium products at high premium prices, and we would like to reiterate that we take all customer feedback seriously. (NB until you buy something you are NOT a customer, so please feel free to spend spend spend). We have a responsibility to ensure that we provide our customers with quality, authentic boxes from reputable dealers. These are not cheap. As such, our pricing reflects a variety of factors, not limited to but including, rarity of the wood, condition, their historical significance, demand, as well as the very expensive cardboard packaging. Before establishing a retail price, The Royal Mint carefully ignores price guides and market trends. As we source our historic boxes from high end carpenters to ensure we can make enough money for the terrible condition coins, our pricing model is obviously quite different to dealers selling great coins in flips. We are unable to compare or offer comment on valuations provided by external sources. With regards to specific issues raised with products such as the Victoria Young Head Crown, we have taken this feedback, torn it up, and are working to ensure that we never have to read it again. We always want our customers to make informed decisions before purchasing, but on this occasion it is not helpful so we won't. We are always working to review and enhance the pricing of our historic coin offering and so we are not taking your feedback on board. As a trusted brand, we acknowledge that there may have been instances where we have not charged enough for the tat we offer. However, we would like to reassure you that we are committed to improving the bank balance by offering more for more. ENDS
  10. It may well be fake, but you can at least guarantee it’s a 22ct fake because H&T test all their gold before they buy or sell. The issue then is that you would be paying WELL OVER spot (even today!!!) for this coin if it was not authentic. I wonder what H&T’s position is on this? Surely they have reviewed it.
  11. Booky’s point is well made! Your coin could be fake, but I’m not sure it is. Here is the coin alongside an AU58 that has similar issues with the denticles. Your coin doesn’t have the luster but some of the features are very precise. I could be very wrong of course!!!
  12. Comp: There is an AU55 PCGS currently for sale in auction in the US. Current price is $460 with eight days to go and currently nine bidders. That coin is in an old green holder (‘OGH’), is CAC approved, and has a nice luster. An NGC slabbed 1853 is in the same auction and is a grade up at AU58. It sits with two bids at $2. (Big differences between the two coins though: 1. US prefer PCGS, especially OGH (the view of many is that grading standards have improved and so a better grade may now be given); 2. The NGC one has no pedigree; and 3. The PCGS is a nicer coin - even with a lower grade…..and because of the OGH it is likely undergraded). I would guess that the PCGS version is likely to sell for around $500-600 and the NGC around $200-300. The image you have shared is a bit blurred (or maybe my tired eyes need rest) and so difficult to tell grade. You need better pictures and it depends on the luster/whether it has been cleaned, as to how much it could be worth. Hope that helps!
  13. Thanks, but not for me. They’ll be snapped up and congrats to the person who takes them!
  14. Would you throw in free Special Delivery if I took both of the 1/2ozers?
  15. I agree with all of this. And my inner communist would say to the Royal Mint to continue fleecing the rich and reduce the premiums on the affordable coins, but that would just result in the rich buying everything. It’s only because they charge such ridiculous premiums that everything is still for sale.
  16. References for the 1660 broad will be difficult give how rare it is, but there have been plenty of the others sold. You could get the Crown for less than £10k. The 1656 Broad would be about £50k. Need to check Heritage for results but that’s a ball park. I would say with some time you could get Alun to make a box, source the coins and grade them for (probably) a lot less than £140k.
  17. If your p*ss was not already at boiling point, take a gander at this horrific* offering: https://www.royalmint.com/shop/coin-sets/thomas-simon-premium-exclusive-set/ Seems they didn’t listen to a word you said. *you read correctly. It is not ‘historic’ it is horrific.
  18. I have dealt with James initially via MA-Shops and then direct. It was for a rare half sovereign. The coin was offered to me at a good rate (in April 2023) and I received exactly what was expected. Very, very happy with the coin and the service. Filled a gap in the collection at a great price and gave me great confidence in James and his company. Whilst the online shop may not be the best, you have to understand the criteria for being able to sell at MA-Shops. It’s extremely strict and I would say that anyone selling via MA-Shops should be afforded some degree of trust. Another example of sellers on that platform include Svcollector. Cheers.
  19. That’s a yes to the package deal of £230.00.
