I’m a seller.   But at £2500 I’d be a buyer.    A realistic price is some that’s fair to the buyer and the seller.    No point asking £4500 if can get a PF70 for less but not interested in selling below issue price either

Exactly. It's a gift from God and He don't pay no dues.
In my opinion, it's not a good idea to leave your metals to your kids. You probably ask, why Roy?
    Or as Nugget once bleated:
'You feel it is okay to belittle efforts I am making to ensure my children don't have the start to life that we did?  I find it offensive and rude.'
    😭
Where do I begin? Let's say you have a life expectancy of 80-85. Your kids will be around 60 when you pass and probably wealthier than you ever were. They have their health, you paid for it.
You needed that money, perhaps you might have seen 90 if you'd spent it on yourself.
When you die, your kids are not kids anymore. Seriously.
People say, 'I want to give them a better life than I had...what the f?'
If they haven't had a better life than you had, then you've failed already.

I believe that, as a parent, there are only a few duties that are required of that position:
    Shelter
    Food
    Warmth
    Clean clothing
    Safety
    Love
    Education

I'd say these are your dues, your parental requisites, and nothing more. There is too much hand-holding and too many 'participation' awards these days. We should value excellence and encourage improvement.
If you haven't made a difference, an impact, in your child's life by the time you die, then I am sorry about that. You can't buy it now, it's too late.

Roy got a reaction from Jaycee in Is it worth having a Financial review from the bank?
Agreed. I hate to think how much money my bank has made from me ☹️
A funny story: At the end of last year, I tried to send a TSF member a four figure payment for something I've wanted for a long time. The payment was cancelled and my online app locked. Just a message to call a UK number.
I called the number and a young lad answered and we went through the usual interrogation  KYC process.
Once he was happy that I am me, my mother still had the same maiden name (?) and I could tell him the last transaction I made, to the penny, he said he might consider accepting the transfer.
But first, he had to ask me the reason I was sending the money. What was I buying? I bit my tongue and told him. Ok, he said, but how do you know the seller. What is your relationship? A friend or family member?
Umm...well...I know him through a precious metals' forum, but he is a Premium Member...and has great feedback!

It may be hightly relevant when exactly he bought them, what Hattons Terms and Conditions say, but I would encourage your friend to engage with them ASAP, possibly also speak to Trading Standards or Consumer Advice about the descriptions. Certainly try to get a refund if possible.
I / we see stuff bought from Coin Marketing Companies, for which they would be lucky to get half or a third of what they paid, which I find very frustrating, as do our staff who try to help and advise people.
Much of this material has not been misdescribed, but the buyers have often been very trusting or gullible, and I am also aware that some of our "competitors" are actively dishonest and fraudulent.

Apart from legal tender in this country, sovs are God's money.
None of the jokers can press a button and 'cancel' them, nor can they dilute them by printing more.
If your daughter finds a box full of sovereigns under the floorboards of her new home, is she oblidged to ask permission from the taxman?
If you leave her a property, then the authorities get involved because they control the database of ownership.
    Not so with (real) money.
Not so even with the toilet paper they print - if someone proves in court that the banknote with serial number xxx you have in your pocket in good faith was actually stolen in a bank heist, they cannot claim it back to the rightful owners, because it counts as 'money'.  Other assets would be eligible for reposession though. Not their currency.
My understanding is that the whole idea behind PMs is the absense of counterparty risk. Why make it anybody else's business? Voluntary slavery?

Yes but it's always been the first Gillick Sov and it's popularity has only been quite recent. Unless of course lots of collectors have only recently started to collect Gillicks and the 57 as the first, is the one to have?
I suspect though, it's the sheep mentality at work.😁
