Haha, i think i got it to make me up to a target in the past. Might swap it out for 2 sovs as if i take them as .2354 each then if i get rid of the half and have 2 more fulls I’ve hit a good milestone. Plus means all the tubes are full to the brim with full sovs lol.

Today i visited the safe deposit box. Nice to see them again. Had a little count up as wasn’t 100% on the exact amount of sovereigns. 151 sovereigns, 1 half sov and 14 1oz coins. So depending on how many decimals I’m either 2 full sovs or 1 and a half sovs away from my target for the year of 50oz.

What better way to celebrate the queens jubilee than picking up some 2022 sovereigns (my first load) and also some other dates. Will be off to the safe deposit box this weekend and will post some pictures in the today I visited thread. I need to do a bit of a count up as lost track of how many sovereigns i have!

“Freedom of the forest” Just means you can take a dump under a tree if duty calls. Not sure about gold panning. Shame for the bloke though, don’t see him doing any harm unless he was using mercury like the old timers!

Picked up 6 more sovs - paid a good price. Interestingly i heard the guy who owned the pawn shop say to his colleague “might aswel get rid of them now before the a*se falls out”. I guess he is expecting gold to tank soon. One of the sovs is from another shop, who only had one in. He said they don’t have many in as “everyone is saving in gold at the moment “. Two quite different outlooks!

If it has the right gold content and weighs about right then why would someone go to the trouble of faking these?

Imagine if his stack was closer to 30 oz but he kept the gold in 2 bags hidden in the broken vacuum cleaner. Splitting the stack may have seemed like a good idea at the time….

I just plan to own gold as smallish percentage of a larger investment portfolio ie properties/shares etc. I would sell but only to re invest somewhere else in the portfolio ie into more income producing assets which can aid in my retirement in years to come. I like owning gold, and i am attached to it in a way but only in the way that i plan to preserve my wealth and gold does a reasonable job of that when combined with the other usual asset classes.

Thanks @ChrisSilver this topic seems to go off track more than any other lol. I am still thinking about pulling the trigger on a tube of 2022 sovs in the new tax year. I’d love to say i know what gold price will do but i really don’t. All i know is now seems like a good a time as any to hold more gold in your portfolio. If i buy the tube that will be me done for a while again though…
