  1. If that would have happened I think the RM would have had everyone returning their annual sets 😂 The £5 with JC portrait is the only reason I bought it! Would have much preferred a smaller set of the two coins.
  2. Yeah though I have to admit having bought the silver proof annual set I was a bit disapointed to see that! The RM were very sneaky in their wording on that SP set. I just hope the £5 makes up for it.
  3. Hope you managed to grab one from Chards in that case. My queue numbers have been terrible the last few releases so its nice to be able to get this one stress free.
  4. The £5 too. All the ones released today have the horseback portrait.
  5. You can currently pre-order the 2oz silver proof from Chards. Get on it!
  6. I ordered 2 of the 2oz as well as didn't see a limit - I expect it'll be fine. I posted a page or two back sharing a receipt from Coin Connection. They listed their allocation for sale today so I suggested people wanting a stress free purchase get on it.
  7. Yeah completely understandable and don't get me wrong - I'm still personally very nervous of this one. I think if that £5 is truly limited to the set only it'll be worth while. If it arrives and the maximm mintage shows that they'll be releasing more later in the year it'll be going back. It does annoy me greatly that they omit maximum coin mintages from the specs of coin sets like this. Really is information that should be freely available so we can make an informed decision on whether something actually may be worth while or not.
  8. As far as I can see at least for the £5 you can only get the JC portrait in that set. I bought one too and have hummed and hawed about what to do with it. Unfortunately we won't truly know what the mintage of that £5 coin is until we have the sets. I'll wait until I have mine and decide from there.
  9. I'm always curious to see what other dealers are stocking the new releases and selling them for. I checked out Coin Connection and this happened. Get on it folks and get a nice stress free order in while you can...
  10. Not sold out just Not available because it doesn't go on sale until the 6th of Feb
  11. Those wondering about the JC portrait from what I can see all the coins on offer today - apart from the 50P found in the two coin set - feature the horseback design instead of the JC portrait.
  12. The larger coins or 50p's don't really do it for me but picked up a couple of the 2oz Silver Proofs as with a max mintage of 1006 they seem worth a punt.
  13. Probably alright since they were showing it themselves yesterday as incorrectly included in the 2022 SP annual set 😂
  14. What a messy and unnecessarily confusing release. I am glad several of you here were able to clear it up. It does seem like the RM are trying to do a little too much at the moment and tripping over themselves.
  15. The completer is the coin of the year for sure but the proof version - preferably gold proof - not the BU. I get that the BU will inevitably have wider appeal and actually appear in more peoples hands but so much of the beauty of that coin is lost without the frosted features of the proof.
  16. I have a fair amount of cash set aside. Most of what I own is tied up in physical assets namely the house I live in and land I've purchased in the UK and Canada. Some is silver and gold. An equal amount to the silver and gold I would guesstimate is cash. I'm really not comfortable with it in this current climate but when the pandemic first took hold in early 2020 I made the decision to move a decent amount of cash to where it could be easily accessed because I imagined opportunities would arise from the sitaution. Some opportunities have arisen and I've made some good money being able to jump on things quicker than I could have if that cash wasn't sitting there. However I say my comfort level is decreasing because in all aspects of my business and work life costs are soaring. As has been discussed in another thread inflation is way higher than the official figures and from everything I see happening I can only see it getting worse. The problem is its hard to find assets at this point which haven't inflated over the last two years so its hard to feel confident about where to park cash.
  17. 100% this. Comparing receipts for items I buy annually for my business there are some items I'm paying 40% more for this year vs last year. Fuel whether for the car or to heat the home is way up. I'm not sure what they're basing the 5% on but when you start comparing like for like items to the last few years it becomes a laughable figure. As for the topic at hand I pretty much agree with what has already been said. I don't think its enough to make a meaningful difference.
  18. Like with every other release there have been problem coins. I've seen quite a few between here and facebook. Same old song and dance.
  19. Yeah nothing is without risk but at £600 I don't think the risk is massive. I feel the desire to make sets out of these two coins will win out come March so whether I'm able to make several sets to sell or just sell on the first coin others will need to complete a set there should be an uplift. The 3Gs is an odd one. Prices never really recovered once all the graded examples flooded the market. Completed listings on ebay show two PF70s sold on the 11th. One at £740 and one at £1395. I imagine the actual value is somewere in the middle. But the 3Gs isn't the first part of a 2 coin set. I still feel its a pretty safe bet.
  20. £600 seems to be the price things have settled at on the Facebook groups too. I've picked up a couple extras at that price as I think its cheap
  21. Exactly what @BackyardBullion said really. I make part of my living selling on ebay and I dread sending out high value orders because there is always the chance - which realistically is super tiny but still there - that the buyer will scam me and I end up with no goods and no money. However as a buyer I wouldn't hesitate to spend thousands as I know my money is safe no matter what. As a side note the 8500 for the 2oz gold isn't an unbelievable deal - its just those coins finding their worth amongst a marketplace that has been crowded with them. I saw several gold 2oz GC's being sold on facebook groups for the sub 10k price point. I'm sure those sellers would have been open to a serious offer in the region of 8500 though I think I'd feel safer spending that amount of money on ebay than in the facebook groups unless it was from a seller I already knew and trusted.
  22. I've said it before on here but for me this is why the Una in all metals, at all sizes won't be matched (in terms of value) by other coins in this series. The Unas were bougth by people who wanted them. I bought my silver proof more than 24 hours after release only because I really liked the looks of it. There was no indicitaion it would become something special... people bought it because they genuinely wanted it and so it disappeared into collections. Those that came to maket were few and far between so prices climbed and climbed. This business of flippers buying most of the coins and dumping them en masse will hurt the value of all the other coins and is the main reason why none of them will reach the highs of the Una.
