  1. Who doesn’t love an Australian Koala? 😬
  2. The 1917 Perth mint sovereign. Rated scarce by Marsh. This will be sent for grading soon.
  3. I maybe should have said I was looking at the main U.K. bullion dealers. I obviously wasn’t looking in the right places.
  4. £400 per oz? If it dropped that low, this would be me leaving the bullion dealers incognito. 😂
  5. This is a very good way to put it. Do you remember in March 2020 when silver dropped below £10 an Oz. I think the cheapest 1oz silver coins I could find were around £25 each. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  6. Here you go @Bluegeo You might find this thread useful, this book is very good and informative if you have an interest in sovereigns. The updated version also includes half and double sovereigns. https://www.tokenpublishing.com/shop/product/8058
  7. Hi, You'd be better to get the book. A new and updated version was released in May this year. I'll tag you in my original post about The Gold Sovereign book.
  8. If I was buying a 1oz gold coin now it would have to be the Queens Beasts completer coin. I haven't looked recently but reading on here the Royal Mint don't have these available any more. Which suggest they've already stopped minting them. As far as I'm aware they're available from Chards to pre order and I know Sharps Pixley also have them in stock. This is of course my opinion but I can see these selling for a premium in future over a standard Kruggerand or a standard Britannia.
  9. There's also the 'compare' feature on here which will show you the spot price for many popular coins. I see that you're a silver premium member so you should be able to see this. Alternatively your calculation is correct. 👍🏻
  10. If he agrees just make sure you’re wearing your mask.
  11. Another sovereign bought on this great forum. This time a 1886 Sydney shield reverse, young head sovereign with some nice detail and rated scarce by Marsh. My partner doesn’t know it yet but we won’t be getting a hot tub until July now. 😬
  12. Imagine if you’d bought the coin and they threw in the watch. 😆
  13. I’d say they’re ok. If you can get clearer photos that would be better. I’ve seen photos on here that look like someone’s put the coin on the floor then climbed a ladder to take the photo. Yours are much better.
  14. The trouble with eBay is that they ALWAYS side with the buyer. I knew somebody who once sold a car part on eBay, a few £100's worth. The buyer opened a case after it had been shipped and asked to return it claiming it was faulty. It wasn't. The buyer returned it and the seller received an empty box. The buyer provided the returns tracking information for the 'return' to eBay. The seller said they hadn't received the item and it was just an empty box. The buyer got a full refund and kept the item. This sort of thing happens a lot and eBay turn a blind eye to it, they're just interested in their fees and nothing else.
  15. They both look like they have the Sydney mint mark. Why not sell them here on the forum?
  16. I wouldn't touch eBay with a sh*tty stick after the experiences I've had with them. They're an accessory to fraud and nothing is done about them. But that's just my opinion.
  17. No, I can’t take the credit for that. I purchased it graded from well known auction. Good luck with your grading, fingers crossed for some MS grades for you.
  18. Ladies and gentlemen. Please be upstanding. Her Majesty Queen Victoria has arrived, in all her PCGS plastic casing glory. 😆 She might not be amused but I am. The 1889 Melbourne first obverse variety rated R3 by Marsh.
  19. This arrived yesterday but it’s something you don’t see very often on the forum. Not the older ones at least. The stunning 1988 1/10th Oz proof gold Britannia. 😍 Small but mighty.
  20. Reminds me about not talking about Fight Club. 😆
  21. That’s very interesting to know and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Is it as scarce in the grade of this one being PCGS AU53?
  22. Hi @TheGoldSovereign I was directed to this post by @Elements earlier today. I’ve recently bought a 1889 M mint sovereign, first variety as according to Marsh is R3 in the The Gold Sovereign updated 2021 version. I was curious to see if you had found any more 1887-1892 of the first variety? According to PCGS there are just 15 graded. This being AU53 with 10 in a higher grade.
  23. I’m resurrecting an old post here but @TheGoldSovereign did you ever get any further with this? I wonder if you found any more first variety in your collection?
