They are high relief cast rounds. By Intaglio Mint. No longer in production unfortunately. I have a spare akragas if you interested
Thanks, but I don't really collect rounds or bars. Now if you had a real one for a great price...

Who makes them?
Are they intaglio rounds as your pics make them look like normal relief rounds? Maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks because that's what I expect to see.
I wish I had a real Akragas obol although I do like the Ephesus bees and Attic owls as well.

They seem to be in very very good condition for 2000 year old coins.
2000 years old? The fanams? I thought they were mostly a couple of hundred years old?

Any way to tell which date these were actually minted on? I believe they are from the 50s but I don't know if they minted certain years on certain years, if you know what I mean.

Atkinsons have a proof 2004 1/4 Brit for £299 and a 2005 for £312.
Seems half decent at current prices given they are low mintage years but I guess it depends if they've been man handled.
-
Images show the type of coin not the actual coin and tbh that's stretching the truth a bit at times with atkinsons. I've had coins from them that look like someone took a file and sandpaper to them to make them look so worn down so quickly when the picture has been at least almost ef.

That’s the one @BackyardBullion bought and returned
When I said recently I didn't mean that recent. It was a while before this thread.
It may have had 22 in Arabic numerals and mm iirc which made me think it might be a jewelry copy.

I have seen info stating the 1950 was minted at Lahore mint and then the 57 in Saudi and also other info saying the 57 was minted at Lahore.
With patterns minted by the Royal mint as well.
Who knows which are correct.
I saw one of these on atkinsons recently but the picture did have the 22 which stopped me from buying it.
I've had words with Atkinsons a couple of times about them listing single, dated coins and not actually using pictures of the coin you are buying. I've had a couple of very poor condition coins when the pictures have been of much better coins. They say they will give you an email picture if you ask but if it is a popular coin it will be gone before they get round to doing this.

Bought 20 swiss francs this week. Was kind of "accident", saw it on auction going for 209€ so i bid 210€ and thought that it will rise before closing.
Well now 20 francs is on the way to me.
I saw one going for less than usual on ebay at the weekend iirc but by the time the seller had replied with the postage charge I was asleep and missed a helvetia for well under the £200.

Baird’s have had Louis phillipes advertised for quite a while now but none in stock when you attempt to buy.
I see hgm have also got more 20 francs in but as far as I could tell they are mostly later ones.

HGM always tell me dates and quality of coins when I call them
I guess it depends how often you ask them. For a while I was on the phone to them up to twice a day almost every day just because they wouldn't list their jubilee head half sovs and young heads separately. I wasn't even asking the dates.
I thought about hiding my caller id, as they would tell me before I got round to asking after a while, but they would have known my voice.

Is anyone going to buy the 100 francs and at HGM so I don’t get tempted??!!
Which type is it?
-
A lot of dealers don’t even mention the type let alone the date. If they have a number in stock they probably won’t appreciate phone calls or emails asking which dates they are.

Third time lucky...!!!
The first 1879 20 francs coin I bought from France, was returned as it was junk grade!
The second 1879.....................I bought from France, is still lost in West Africa!!!
Congratulations 😃 here go to ATS Bullion, who have sourced me one, and an 1871, and they have arrived! (Anchor, not barred anchor)
I think it’s worth giving ATS Bullion a bit of a special mention here....
I have used them in the past, and their customer service has been better than ANY other dealer I have used.
The above two coins only cost about 6% over spot plus postage...for UK buyers that knocks seven bells out of the big dealers over here!
The best bit..I emailed them a ‘coins wanted list’ last year, and they kept it...! I got an email out of the blue asking if I still wanted the coins on the list, as they now have some in stock..what fantastic customer service.
I have now sent a revised list to them and a big thank you 😊.
Its not often I give a free plug to a dealer but on this occasion they deserve it..
I’m surprised you got them for 6% over spot as most of the coins I looked at on their site started around 10% over spot. They have always seemed a bit more expensive than most bullion dealers to me.

For proof coins they burn the surface of the coin blank?
You think they meant burnish the surface?

I just want to confirm the post from @TheGoldAngel I just got a 2019 for £226,99 and £2,90 postage 🙂
thank you you man for the info, appreciated.... I've been looking for the 2019 for long time now.
I hope you haven’t been looking for too long! I’d hate to think of you looking for years.
Any idea if they bombard you with letters full of “offers” like H&B? I received three in one day recently. They may have been the same one sent out repeatedly by mistake but I didn’t open them to see.

There were a few less common francs or equivalent weight gold coins in the sale iirc, weren't there?
-
Anyone buy any Francs from Coincabinet during the weekend auction?
There was a Jerome (Napoleons brother) Westphalia gold franc coin I was considering bidding on. I had put prebids in on a number of other coins so didn't want to risk too big a bill. Needless to say I was just outbid anyway and lost every one by one or two bids. Prebids!

It's been a slow evolution over the last couple of years.
It wouldn't be so bad if they really acted like a coin dealer and advertised the approximate grade and date and/or version of the coins but they seem to think they can charge dealer prices but still act like a bullion dealer.
The prices they started charging for young and jubilee head half sovereigns is ridiculous given you're buying blind.
-
I’ve seen plenty of pre Victorian very worn sovereigns, many half sovereigns and some Victorian sovs. Sydney mint Victorian sovs, I.e. the ones marked Australia, are often well worn as well.
-
Atkinsons had a few 1905 $5 coins all in uncirculated or as near as damned for ages but I don't know if they have any left. They were around £278 when I contacted them but they weren't really willing to lower the price and had considered having them graded. £278 was slightly too high for me but I think I did end up with one as they don't come up for sale that often over here unless it's at stupid prices on ebay.

A classical period Athenian owl, unfortunately not a tetradrachm but a smaller coin.

Knowing Atkinsons it is probably marked before it's so cheap. I wish they'd show the actual coin especially when they charge well over spot.
