Vesper reacted to Spyder in 1/10 krugerrand coins
I would say the top for price would be Libertad, Panda, Eagle and top of the tree coming from nowhere are the new Spanish coins released in the last few years. Most tend to stick to Britannia for CGT reasons. For me, I buy what I like and no Government will ever get a penny from me regarding any coins I buy.

Vesper reacted to paulmerton in CGT Exempt Coins (it's not just UK coins!)
As this has cropped up a few times in recent threads, I thought it would be helpful to condense a list of which coins are exempt from CGT in the UK. There are quite a few that might surprise you. This is based on my reading of the helpful guide at https://www.chards.co.uk/guides/capital-gains-tax-on-gold-and-silver-bullion/4. I am not a tax expert, I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this information today, and this is not financial advice blah blah etc.
In a nutshell, the following coins appear to be CGT exempt in the UK:
All UK coins that are legal tender pound sterling. (Caveat: only includes sovereigns dated 1837 onwards) Isle of Man coins that are denominated in Manx sterling. (e.g. Includes IoM sovereigns, excludes IoM Angels and Cats) Jersey sterling coins (e.g. Jersey sovereigns). Guernsey sterling coins. British Antarctic Territory sterling coins. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands sterling coins. British Indian Ocean Territory sterling coins. Tristan da Cunha sterling coins. But don't get carried away. Notably, the following are not CGT exempt:
Gibraltar coins (including sovereigns). Falkland Islands coins Saint Helena coins

Vesper reacted to ZRPMs in Got a few more pennies to spend on the sovereign collection, Still looking for these dates if anyone's selling any of them.
Once again. A little frightening asking the question whilst we are at golds ATH. However, still looking for my missing dates and mints. I'm down to 38 sovereigns required excluding the Rare + sovereigns (List 2, 30
sovereigns) according to the rarity rating in the 2021 The Gold Sovereign Series book as revised by Steve Hill.
They are as follows:- List 2
George III, 1817, 1818, ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1819-R5,
George IV, Bare Head 1827, 1830 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Laureate 1823-R3, 1825-R3, Bare Head 1828-R4
William IV, 1831, 1833, 1835, 1836, 1837, ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1830-R4,
Victoria, Shield London mint, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1839-R2, 1841-R3, 1874-R4, St George & Dragon 1879-R3
Young head Melbourne mint Shield 1885, St George & Dragon 1872 ----------------------------- --------------- Young head Shield 1880-R2, 1883-R2, 1886-R3, 1887-R3
St George & Dragon Young head 1871 for the Sydney mint, Old head St George & Dragon London mint 1897 ---- Jubilee head St George & Dragon 1887-R3-7
Edward VII, Melbourne mint, 1908, 1909, 1910,
Sydney mint, 1904,
Perth mint, 1904,
Canadian mint, 1908, 1909, 1910,
George V, London mint, 1916, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1917-R3
Melbourne mint, 1912, 1916, 1919, 1926, 1930, ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1920-R2, 1921-R3, 1922-R2, 1928-R2-7, 1929-R3-7, 1931-R2-6
Sydney mint, 1919 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1920-R6-7, 1921-R3, 1922 R3-6, 1923-R4-6, 1924-R3, 1926-R3-6
Perth mint, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929,
Canadian mint, 1913, 1914, 1918, 1919, ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1916-R2
South African mint --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1923-R2-3, 1924-R2-3
Elizabeth II, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1993 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1953-R-2
All listed dates and mints are common to rare, (except list 2 which are rare+) in The Sovereign series book (Michael A. Marsh, Revised by Steve Hill). Quite a good book by the way for those collecting Sovereigns.
I'm happy to consider any of the above. I have a limited budget so please don't feel offended if after I have bought a few I tell you I may need to pass go a few time before I can start spending again. I may not be able to check back immediately to any replies but will answer any posts or messages as soon as I can. Kind regards.
List 2 Is really unobtainable, with the best I could hope for is up to R3. The list being classed as follows :-
R2 - Very Rare
R3 - Extremely Rare
R4 - 11 to 20 examples estimated to have survived
R5 - 5 to 10 examples estimated to have survived
R6 - 3 to 4 examples Known to exist
R7 - 1 or 2 examples Known to exist
Last picture of the sovereign collection. A few more have been added.
Coins in red have been bought during this wanted post. Many thanks to those that have helped in the acquisition of them.
