That’s the post office just trying to increase there turnover, that actually makes me sick people taking advantage of elderly and vulnerable people.. shame on them and karma is a b*tch

Graded coins will usually cost a bit more once you get past AU53, but lower grades don't always.
A common year bullion shield raw (ungraded) you can pick up about £425, so around a £30 premium over a George and Dragon
Scarce, rare and variants will be more unless you get lucky, as will any in really nice condition. So as an example were I selling the below the 1872 would be £425 but the 1881S would be £525 (ish)
The 1872 is common and in very bullion condition, the 1881S is a rare and in lovely condition, I am hoping it will be an MS grade. And I would put money on that if I sold them the 1881S would go first, and likely very quickly. The 1881S is currently with @GoldDiggerDave for conservation and grading
I appreciate the guidance and will be sure to hold off and study more before dipping my toe into these sovs.. hopefully the grading goes well and @GoldDiggerDave works his magic 🤞🏽
Thanks again bud

The 1872 I already cashed out so I no longer own, it went to one of the guys that runs Cameo Coins
The others I would have to research, but guesstimate would be £480-£650 depending on the year and grade
The older coins have me baffled regarding prices, not sure what a good price for bullion shieldback sovs for those years are good or bad..?
Suppose they 100+Year Old coins, so plenty of history behind them

Curiosity, I could be taught a thing or two..
Whats the price tag for these sheildbacks graded?

1872 is the MS64, and the 1884(2nd pic) is the MS61.

In principle I like to go for the larger one. They are lower mintages, but ultimately (long term) that means value. But they are harder to shift, and a bigger risk up front. The GE's have been very hit-or-miss, so risk is a strong consideration. Bet the 5oz is lovely in hand though.
Honestly I wasn’t for getting any of these variants, though got offered it I when discussing getting a coronation coin set with dealer.. and I gave in and took a punt on the 2oz..
To be honest I totally agree, I do believe the 5oz will indeed look a lot better in hand and proportioned - if I get offered it at the right money and can get it graded… I very well might pull the trigger.
Did you get many yourself?

Yup!
… I suspect @James32 already has a couple
The only thing is the 5oz may look better proportioned than the 2oz, we shall see.. haha I wouldn’t be surprise is he did 😂🤣

What peopkes thoughts in the recent great engravers collection. I have been offered the 2oz snd 5oz, taking the 2oz not sure if tge 5oz will hold its value. There were only 450 created, but that doesnt mean too much.
No 2oz gold offered, and the 1kg gold… welk thats on a whole new level!

I’m last person to chat about proof coins etc, as only started last year getting bits and pieces - I think the lettering on the edge is cool on the 2oz & 5oz Silver..
I secured 2oz, I think the 5oz is bit rich for me tbf - I’m looking at the 2oz as a gamble.. oh and the gold is for the likes of @James32 😂😂
All I want for Christmas is . . . . . . . . ? 1oz of GOLD? a sovereign??? let's get it and all be part of the journey

Of course, I think Paul made this great idea more to allow ourselves to purchase a nice Christmas present near end of 2024 without stress and budgeting issues.
It’s only a £ target, you can spend it on whichever PM’s best fit in your collection then good sir.
