Have been here two years and I "think I have seen it once or twice. I have seen a handfull of members kicked out before getting the opportunity but these are usually sussed out by the community before hand.
I think I was here 5 months before making my first sale but I waited until I had a rep of about 400 (personal preference). I started of small, selling lots of less than £100 until the point I was comfortable selling sovereign's. The only issue I had was my bank stopping a incoming payment until I got there details. Turns out she was not the name on the account and a couple of item not getting feedback.

I've been here since day one when the forum started in March 2014 both as a moderator & member. To my knowledge there have been only 2 people scammed here. This is one of the best & probably safest selling platforms out there.
Most if not all members here operate like gentlemen where the saying my word is my bond hold true.

We are talking about you, you started the conversation therefore you are front and centre. Your question would not have arose if your sales past smoothly.
The forum has a very low percentage of "scams" because between the active moderation team ( you won't see them but there watching 😂) and the integrity and effort of its members, stranger danger is often caught quickly and effectively!! It's nothing personal but we all had some hoops to jump through. It's what makes the place so successful and if you follow the sound advice already given, you will be the one handing out similar advice in the near future 😊

this is a good little example of how you can begin to grow rep and forum presence. myself and others have explained in detail and provided proof to answer your questions to reassure.
    Not a reply of "thanks"
or a "like or thanks" click reaction to the time they've taken.
it is these small things that folk will remember and build yours and other forum rep

A few ok?  Some with eventual resolution/recourse, some unfortunately not. As it's a very sensitive nature for obvious reasons..you won't find it "broadcasted" across the forum.
The reason it's such a small number compared to overall trades completed is trust. The members kind of police it themselves ( obviously the moderation team are watching, but the less intervention needed the better) trust is earned and takes time but well worth it once you achieve it. There's no fast track way and for good reason. The guys above have given excellent advice, I've offered help/advice on one of your threads and you could of been paid by now.
I completely understand the frustration, but we have all been through it and it's part of the journey.
Get involved more or sell smaller items first, do not give up though and again if I can help in anyway, don't hesitate to ask.

The word 'how' implied a question when you said
"Now how is a new seller supposed to get feedback if no one buys from them."
I've started you off with some constructive ideas to help you with your apparent issue of not yet having much trading feedback, there might be others with additional or better ideas that will chip in to help you also

As a new member on the forum, it can be intimidating to engage in discussions and transactions with more established members who may have a higher reputation or a longer history on the forum.
It is important to remember that trust is a two-way street, and both parties should be willing to make an effort to build trust in any relationship, whether it be on a forum or in real life.
One of the ways that you can build trust with other members on the forum is by being transparent and honest in your interactions.
This means being open and upfront about your intentions, and being willing to share information about yourself and your experiences on the forum.
It is also important to remember that a member's reputation and contributions on the forum are not the only factors to consider when building trust. While it can be helpful to see an established feedback history or to see how long someone has been a member, it is important to keep an open mind and not make assumptions about someone based solely on these factors.
Ultimately, building trust on a forum or in any relationship takes time and effort from both parties.
By being open, honest, and willing to communicate, you can work towards building a strong foundation of trust with other members on the forum.
Personally ive had no bad dealing at all

Being an active member in the forum without buying or selling would be a great start. For eg there are long standing members here with very few feedback but they have been here a while and regularly contribute in threads, whilst they have no sales feedback many would buy from them without hesitation.
Some members have started with smaller items and built up from there.
Others have done the pay on receipt option.
Some have used intermediary services or met in person
Not a conclusive list but some ideas to start.

My stacking appetite for this year is based on a strategy of items that could be flogged on the secondary market (i.e. here) or offloaded to a dealer in bulk if needed without taking too much of a bath on the premium:
Sovs - mostly bullion preferring quality and liquidity over rarity.  EF George beats a badly worn shield. Mostly aiming to get moderately desirable bullion pieces that can sell quickly.   It might be worth paying a little over bullion for higher value items like a shield if the price is something I'm confident I can recover here in a quick sale.  1oz bullion - mostly CGT exempt. Maybe get one or more bars in the 1oz-50g range - probably cast as one can demo acid tests and suchlike.   I have a small number of fractional bars - move these to Indonesia where stacking is more centred around fractional bars.  Probably buy a bit more in Indonesia as an emergency fund for the fam.  Maybe a unity box or combi bar for fine-grained sales if necessary. A bit of silver, mostly collectibles such as Perth Mint or Germania. Looking to average £1,000/month or thereabouts while working.  Recession is a wildcard but I was OK across 2008-9.  Some other related items are:
Spin up a SIPP and combine existing pension onto it.  Probably go precious metal heavy in the SIPP until the major indexes look like they've bottomed and started climbing again.  Once I've got enough physical (maybe 20-30 oz over the next few years) switch to mainly stacking in the SIPP.
Continue poking around with photography.  With some very kind help from @Charliemouse I've got some options for secondhand kit that could be used for macro photography without breaking the piggy bank or compromising too much gold.

Any resolutions for 2023, precious metal related of course!
I'll kick it off: No more modern coins from the Royal Mint. I stopped with the memorial sovereigns and the 2023 QE2 Britannias, and that's that. You have to draw a line somewhere eh?
I'm not stopping gold purchases however, I'll concentrate on improving my Britannia collection and perhaps pick up a few more 19thC half sovereigns.

Quadrum cases are lovely for gold coins. My storage preference.  Uniform size and can have 1/20s to 1oz
    all displayed nice
Also helps sorting and storage with the being square
Try them from seller andy_jack on eBay or direct from their web site coingallery.co.uk
Label them using a standard 99012 dymo label with dymo labelwriter 450 Duo. The width is perfect size for quadrum
You can fit coin type, gold weight, date and price paid

TCWalker reacted to SidS in Is coin collecting going to go the way as stamp collecting?
I think coin collecting has already gone the way of stamp collecting.
Too many damn commemoratives, it's been over diluted. It doesn't create the interest of new collectors it just overwhelms them, and the poor returns given by some of the tacky commemorative dross basically reaffirms that it's not worth investing in.
It also hacks off longer term collectors who were trying to complete a set of new material when the goal posts keep moving and that the 20 coin set you started out on had somehow morphed into a 126 coin run with more spin offs than anyone can keep track of (like Prime Ministers).
Just look at the state of play since the Queen's passing and the commemorative fatigue that has shown up on here - and many on here (not me) are some of the most committed and interested supporters of such material and even here the will to live was approaching a crisis point.
Same with US material - it started out with the State Quarters (pulled in a lot of new collectors) and then they went all in... on parks, monuments, presidents, first ladies and tons of other stuff. Many of which ended up with ever decreasing mintages as clearly people just weren't that bothered.
But then they do this with films as well... so many Marvel films, and where are we at with Rocky films now? 12?? 😁

https://www.bleyerbullion.co.uk/shop/gold/3g-gold-chinese-panda-2023/ bleyer have the new 3g 2023 panda at £178.75, a significantly lower price than BBP, and about £8 less than chards due to postage
This year's design is great, and the 3g pandas have a diameter of 18mm, so they're a pretty nice size compared to 1/10th ounce coins.

Honestly I echo almost everything above, except I will add I've the double sovereign in gold and I personally find it a nice coin. The gold counterparts can pop up cheap from time to time close to spot.
These silver ones are nothing but an extortionate mistake if investment is the purpose though.

If you take cash out of your ISA to buy physical gold remember you can't put that money back in beyond the current limit (£20k/year) the power of the ISA is really to let it grow and compound IMO.
If it were me I'd just save the £ in a normal savings account or current account and buy when you have enough for sovs every other month for eg. Sounds like you've put some serious thought in to it which is nice to see too

Make sure to factor in account and transaction fees to get a clear idea of cost - both when buying and selling, i'd be tempted to just save cash in a high interest isa or savings account if i were in your shoes, or trade up from silver to gold when the timing is right.  There are some differences between etf pms vs the real thing, exit price/exit strategy in particular imo.

Never copy another guy/girls homework, if they are wrong your wrong.
Each individual has to find their own comfort level and what works best for them.
You have rightly identified the risk in your plan "spot price " but like you say, it may also come down.

TCWalker reacted to James32 in Hi everyone - I need your help
    Hi @StayGold, welcome aboard firstly.
You need a CN22 form ( it can be downloaded online, but you can ask for a self adhesive one at your post office)
Very east to fill in, when it comes to description of contents, put souvenir or holy medal. For value in this instance you can tell the truth, but I would opt for under £20 value as its less likely to go missing.
Postage for international tracked from memory is around £10

With all that being said, ask yourself is it worth the hassle and extra expense.
Without knowing what you paid, a similar coin sold recently on here for £36 I believe, so maybe it would be better just to cut your losses and sell the coin for a few £ less on here ( describe/show the flaw accurately and honestly) and it will still sell if priced right.
Then use the funds ( with the extra £10 you would have used on international shipping) and buy something closer to home from a UK dealer.
Or even put up a wanted post on the forum?
