    I never said everyone though. Just those of us switched on enough to know what's going on. The vast majority of the population are sheep - pack animals, follow the herd. I sir, am a cat. I do my own thing, in my own way.

    Fair point, but I was trying to get at the fact there isn't that much wildlife in the UK and if it became a major food source for even a minority of the population it might soon go into rapid decline.

    For those suggesting pigeons for city dwellers ... I remember when Trafalgar Square was rammed with them and people selling bird seed.  More recently I believe byelaws were passed to make it illegal to feed them, birds of prey were introduced to cut their numbers and perches were restricted by those spiky things on every horizontal surface.  You'd be lucky to see even 1 pigeon in Trafalgar Square these days.

    ... and can't even get any without a bank account address and passport.

    This is not quite true as there are peer to peer ways to buy crypto. e.g. https://bisq.network/ or simply a bloke in the pub.

    Come to think of it ... perhaps such peer to peer crypto deals could happen on here if the forum owner wished to allow them.

    There used to be bitcoin ATMs but they got banned by the FCA ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-60709209

    On a similar front Oxford council is splitting up the centre into 15 minute neighbourhoods. Residents can get a permit to enter the other sectors for up to 100 days a year. Limited movement through the back door ?

    The  mark is becoming forever closer.

    Happening in other cities too.

    If people are shooting them down for lovely bespoke packaging then they just can't win. I think there packaging is great and takes them to another level.

    For the record ... I didn't "shoot them down".

    I don't let my wife know how much I'm spending either 🤣

    Why have a wife?  Live life as a free man.

    I don't think many are using it. Have read a bit about it for the last couple of months and take what I read with a pinch of salt. $45 dollars per day for a Nigerian is probably the equivalent to my bank allowing me £200 per day. Probably worse here as you can't spend it when you do take it out.

    My point was that they clearly didn't and neither have the people of ANY other country.  This is being imposed top down regardless.

    If you look in their Terms and Conditions, cash is not allowed, but bullion/coin collections should be, assuming I am reading it correctly.

    See here : https://www.metrobankonline.co.uk/globalassets/documents/customer_documents/personal/safe-deposit-box-terms-and-conditions.pdf

    3.1 You may be required to tell us what you have stored in your safe deposit box. You must ensure that your safe deposit box only contains items that belong to you, and never contains any of the following items:

    • anything that is illegal or constitutes the proceeds of crime;

    • cash, of any currency, amount or denomination;

    • chemicals or drugs, or items which are noxious, ...

    ...

    I guess it comes down to whether a bullion coin with a face value in GBP is classed as "cash, of any currency, amount or denomination".  Perhaps Metrobank need to clarify their T&Cs in this regard as it seems to be open to interpretation.

    problem is that quite a few times the anti fraud text messages asking people to confirm if something was real and could be released automatically, were thought of as fraud by customers and ignored. so no reply was received and the transaction was blocked!

    Seems sensible to assume any incoming communication from your bank is fraudulent until proven otherwise.  Ignoring it is not sensible though, you should contact the bank using an existing trusted channel rather than replying to some random looking txt message or dealing with some automated telephone system.
