    Hello All,
I'm just about done with packaging my coins, but have the 50p set left. I just wanted to confirm if it's usual to get both coins encapsulated separately? Perhaps this is required, since they may not grade the same? I've seen some "joint" NGC capsules with two coins of a set within a double capsule.
Looking around on ebay/coin cabinet auctions I can only see the coins in separate capsules, though wanted to check on here.
I've attached an image of my coin set.

    Thanks!

Pretty sure they will grade separately 👍

I would like to add that both coins are from different two coins sets and they were all submitted together and ignored 🤣 so two lots of two 🤣

Toning and red spots do have a negative effect on grading, yes conservation can help

I can’t answer any of the recent questions but thought you should see this @Timberwolf.

Check out these mistakes I’ve had from ngc, might worry you abit 🤣
Left side is what they originally were graded and right side is what they were graded after I informed them they were wrong 🤣

Found this thread really interesting.  I've bought a few graded coins and was considering potentially having some graded myself in future.  Had no idea just how much paperwork was involved before even sending the coins.  Think I'll probably just stick to buying them ready done! 😐

Hey! My 1/4 memorial proof sovereign had tarnished the same way. 😆
I’m not too fussed. It’s happened to me before.

    Hello,
I'm in the process of packaging around 30 gold coins for grading with NGC. I've gone through all my coins and was very surprised to see this quarter sovereign with tarnish marks. None of the other ~30 proof coins have tarnished, thank god.
I store all my coins in a damp free environment. They have never been taken out of their capsules. I inspected all my coins (while still inside their capsules) upon delivery (early 2022), and know for sure that this particular coin had no (visible) tarnishing upon delivery.
How common is this? Is it still worth getting this graded, will NGC conversation be able to 'save' it?
Would Royal Mint replace the coin? I doubt so, after reading https://www.royalmint.com/faqs/collectors/do-commemorative-coins-tarnish-over-time/
    Thanks.

I'm the original owner, this was received in one of my 5 sovereign sets from Royal Mint upon release, I've not taken them out of their capsules. Also this discolouration was not present upon delivery, I thoroughly inspected each and every coin under magnification.
I believe 24k gold is much less likely to tarnish, as it's a purer form. Though this is a sovereign, which is 22k, so has other metals included, which I believe can tarnish over time.
Looking at NGC conservation website, they show a gold eagle with similar discolouring, before and after conservation:

Premiums are getting ridiculous. Also simply so many "special" coins for Charles already.
IMO, 99% will be better off with double the gold in weight through bullion coronation coins instead.

My bullion double sovereign has arrived from the RM and it's quite nice in hand, and the quality is acceptable to me.  Waiting on 3 other bullion coronation coins though, one from Atkinsons and two from Chards.

Yeah I wasn't aware of the lower mintages, missed out as I knew nothing about proof coins at the time... I do have a few of the bullion 2022 Jubilee though.

2022 proof coins were a much smaller mintage, a significantly more popular monarch (all over the world) and an extremely exclusive event (70 years of rule). IMO the 2023 sovereigns will not be close to being in the same league, value wise, though that's just my opinion, I could be very wrong

I'm just about ready to join NGC and send off several proof coins for grading. I'd like some information from anyone familiar with the process, so I know what to expect.
I have several 5 coin, 4 coin, 3 coin and individual sovereign sets to send.
    1. The www.ngccoin.uk website mentions putting the coins in plastic slips, then double boxing. Would it not be best to send the sovereign sets in their RM wooden boxes, with packaging to stop the coins from rattling?
    2. I've not removed the proof coins from the original capsules, nor do I want to, as I don't want to risk dust/scratches/accidents.
    3. Sending the coins - Royal Mail special delivery insured up to £2500, so for the 5 coin sets, would it be best to use another insured courier, or even to physically drive/take my coins there in person (if this is even possible). Only other option I can see would be to remove the capsules from the 5 coin set, then pack the capsules in boxes of up to £2500 worth in each box.
Many thanks for any response/help with my newbie questions.

Thanks for the reply, Dave. Ah I didn't realize the grading was done in the US. Will I be shipping to an address in the UK, then NGC ships to the US?
As for coin flips - I've got some suitable for 1oz Britannias, but nothing that fits the £5 sovereigns. Which coin slips do you use for those and where do you get them?

I'm in the process of packaging my coins to send to NGC, so exciting!
This maybe a strange question - is it an issue that I'll be printing the form out in black and white? I only have a mono laser printer at home. I could pop to a library/printing company if colour is 100% required though. I can't see any stipulation on the form, but thought worth checking here.

Thanks for the reply and info, I hope your coins make it back safely to you soon!
I wish there was a way to send with RM special delivery with > £2500 insurance. Does anyone know a reputable courier that would fully insure a large value package than this? Else it'll be multiple special delivery shipments that I'll have to use.

South Wales. Easily doable on the train I guess. I think I'd repurpose a money belt to carry my coins for peace of mind.
Guess I could also collect them in the same manner, or do NGC use some god tier courier to return coins to you?

Do they use Royal Mail, or another courier that insures beyond the standard £2500 covered by special delivery?
I'm considering dropping off my coins physically in the London office, then paying for them to send them back to me (insured).
Also, can anyone confirm is this is the London office? Doesn't look to be advertised externally as NGC (Certified Collectibles Group UK).

I'll be loading up on the bullion sovereign instead. Asked myself the question, in 1 year, 5 years, or 1 years, how many will be willing to pay extreme premiums for Charles III coins? Not many IMO. Queen Elizabeth II coins are different - she's special and renowned world wide.
I have many sets of proof Jubilee Sovereign (including two 5 coin sets), I wish I'd bought more tbh!
