As long as I can remember it has been Labour policy to tax and spend, buggering up the economy every time they get into power ever since the 1970s. (Yes I know the tories have royally buggered it up too). It wouldn't surprise me if VAT was added to gold sales, and CGT status for legal tender was removed altogether. There is little doubt that the leadership batten will be passed to Labour this GE, and it is clear to me at least that their tenure will cause more chaos this time around than ever before, whether through stupidity or by design, and I imagine the result of such a policy as VAT on gold and removal of CGT on both gold and silver would be chaotic in the early stages if a notice period was given and panic driven FOMO kicks in, but would maybe settle down as time goes by in the same fashion as it always does when big rises in spot stabilise and become the new normal.
Who knows what they'll do or what sinister or stupid ideas they will implement into law.  Expect the worst.

Bottom line here and the main point being that they're all as thick as mince, and that makes them unpredictable, so anything could happen. As @SidS points out above, remember Brown as chancellor.

Agreed pretty much on all points.  SKS is an idiot and a weakling.
Pledges for this that and the next thing : seems I've heard it all before and they always do the opposite.
Print/spend : We're already mired in that particular mess - easy for them to keep it going and it's a good stealth tax.
"A vote for Labour is also a vote for a acceleration towards Islamic dominance/preferences, more extremes".   It seems clear to me that they fully intend to cause as much chaos as they possibly can with this. Although for the life of me I can't understand why.
Reform : just a joke. Mainstream wannabes offering a straw for the desperate to clutch, Tory-lite, more of the same, call them what you will. I'll be surprised if they gain a single seat, and if they did I've got a Tom Kitten 50p in my pocket which says they will turn out to be just as corrupt as the rest of them.
I do still think they are stupid enough (and grasping enough) to do away with legal tender CGT status and introduce VAT to gold sales however. Imagine any one of Rayner, Lammy, Abbott, or that idiot Thornberry as chancellor, the possibilities become endless...

flyingveepixie reacted to Bratnia in How will the upcoming UK General Election affect the price of Gold and Silver?
There are many who are feel upset/betrayed by the Conservatives and opine that both Lab/Con as-is are unvotable, currently opting to abstain or waste their vote (Green/LD/whoever else). Recent polls seeing a 17 point Lab lead. As it hits home that SKS U-turned on his vote me as your Lab leader promises, so will do likewise if elected as PM, along with Angela Rayner and Hamas supporting Lammy as core cabinet directors (massive more migration) and IMO last minute urges may see a higher turnout in support of Con, not for their policies, more in fear of a Labour dictatorship.
I suspect the July 4th timing is down to not coinciding with the US elections and where the first Rwanda planes might start flying in the hours before the election ... and before the upsurge in summer boats crossing the channel, appeal to voters for that, or Lab who have promised to throw the Rwanda option out of the window.
14 million voted Con in 2019 vs 10 million Lab. Much of that Con majority was down to Brexit support, more normally the two are more level pegging 12 million +/- 1 million that swings the winner.
Farage/Reform are making a 'big' announcement tomorrow at around 11am and if he opts to stand for election as Reform's head that will deplete Con support, still likely see few if any Reform MP's,  and see a Lab government/majority. If he doesn't then IMO there's a reasonable probability of a hung parliament, no overall majority/coalition - which personally I'd prefer over a total Lab dictatorship majority that would see massive levels of migration and further suppression/vilification of white males (further expansion of UK Islamism) and pain for those who worked to save.

I mentioned this the other day to Roy's comment.

I had a load of silver with BullionVault. I sold it all last year to pay the deposit on the house. It has appreciated by about 55% in the 8-9ish years I held it. Was stoked with the increase as it's afforded us the house we're in. Missus had similar invested, but more gold than silver and did equally as well.
Enables us to be able to have a decent house with a mortgage that is achievable and not over stretching us.

    No.
They gave you the paper to make your choice of candidates - those were the terms - but there were no candidates you wanted - so you made your choice - None of the above - I do not consent.
We need to forget this shLt where we imagine these conts are all powerful. Their power is derived from us, they have nothing otherwise. It's all over once the people unite and withdraw consent. This is why they constantly try to divide us so we don't unite. This is what political parties are about - dividing us, setting one against the other when in reality there is no choice. But i made MY choice which was not to choose any of them - it was to clearly say, i do not consent. People give them power but i do not consent. I will give them as little as possible. i give none of them my authority to govern me.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Violent revolution only ever results in extreme socialism, outright communism, or fascism (not a fag paper of difference between them as far as I'm concerned). Oppression, repression, mass surveillance, suppression, banning of books, banning of music, KGB/VOPOS/GESTAPO, and all the rest of it.  I also strongly agree that even if everybody did the "I do not consent " thing, then they would just rig it anyway. As far as I can tell it's always rigged in favour of one or the other of the main two, who again have hardly a fag papers worth of difference between them, except one is worse than the other.  That leaves us with the dilemma of what to do in the coming GE.  The only answer is spoil the paper in some way to register your protest, even though it will make no difference, or vote for a fringe candidate who will have no chance thanks to the rigged nature of the ballot, again to register your protest. The worst thing to do however is to sit on your arse and do nothing as @sixgun rightly points out, because that will be assumed as consent.
